I think bringing in lutz and having allison has the top assistant would be fantastic and probably make most on this board happ .

Allison could be the coach in waiting to take over and if things are going well could go a long way in building a real program.

Lutz is the same age as Dale Layer (but with a better resume) which means nothing as far as his ability to do the job right now is concerned, but does place somewhat of a limit on how long he could realistically coach here (provided he is successful.) Grant, despite his youthful appearance, is only a year younger than Ritchie McKay. I would not be upset to see any of these 3 named as our new coach, but if I have to pick one, I'd give a slight edge to Moton based on the upside his relative youth provides and the possibility of having someone who could be around long enough to become the legend Jeff Meyer would have been if not for the stupidest move in the history of LU athletics. Yes, I would place it ahead of hiring Karcher and Hanky, with Layer's extension not far behind.

At the time hiring Karcher and Hanky were not seen as a bad idea. I think Layer's extension was met with suspicion and now given its length is totally baffling

I lived in Charlotte after my LU years, so I'm very familiar with Lutz. He was a great face for the UNCC program. He did well with the media and was seen as a great recruiter. He gets my vote for our next head coach (since Meyer doesn't seem to be a popular choice).

But be warned... bad language can easily roll off his tongue. The only question my Charlotte LU friends have is his fit with The Liberty Way.

Something tells me that language is not going to be a deterring factor for who we hire for the position. Based on my personal experience with past head coaches not just in basketball but in other sports as well.

My little maltipoo would be an upgrade, that is not much of a compliment. I am not a Moton fan by any stretch. (Among other things, I just don't see a good coach willing to sign up at NCCU for 7 years at that dump of a campus, as someone we should be interested in). The rest of the names are very intriguing. Hope we find out soon.

Coaches sign long term and then leave all the time. NCCU offered Moton an 8 year extension last year for $250,000/yr. because they couldn't afford to pay him a higher annual salary and that was the only way they could sweeten the pot. I highly doubt the buyout is prohibitive.

Moton is not coming here..does not fit into the Libery way whatsoever and Anthiony Grant is not coming either..lets talk about realistic possibilities...might as well add shaka smart to this list bc i think he would be great at LU

Just spoke to Bobby Cremins on XM radio. I ask him who he liked as an LU coaching option. He likes Grant from bama or Lutz, he says we need to give Carol Hess a call to bring in as assistant.

I'm sure he is. He made his ride through campus a few months ago.

FlamesNation says we haven't contacted Lutz yet. Maybe Barber is waiting for his season to be over? I'd bet that Allison has contacted Lutz though.

I can see why Moton might not be an option but why not Grant? His schedule is pretty open at the moment

I dunno, but I have a feeling that JB is going to hire someone that has not been mentioned here. I sincerely hope we don't hire a has been failed head coach with a below .500 or .500 record. This hire is going to be extremely important for JB, and I hope he doesn't do a 2nd massive screw up.
