He has been mentioned quite a bit actually, but the consensus seems to be that Murray State is a much better job than LU and he wouldn't consider it because it would be a step down in the short term and hurt his chances for a high major job in the long term.
I guess that's what happens when I skim through 8 pages or so. If Liberty is serious about going into the Sun Belt or C-USA he would jump ship. Murray State is stuck in the OVC.
Oh, Liberty is serious. The problem is, it's not our decision. I agree that a conference change would make the job more attractive to someone like Prohm.

If the rumors of a push for C-USA membership are true, Bobby Lutz would give our MBB credibility there. He went 70-42 in conference during the 7 years he coached Charlotte there before they went to the A-10. 5 NCAA appearences and an NIT.

Having spent the last season covering CUSA hoops I can say that Liberty will need to recruit a higher talent level to compete consistently. Lutz did have some success in the conference.

It seems in casual conversation that Liberty is not necessarily everyone's 1st choice if UAB leaves the conference but they don't treat it like the Sunbelt does. They seem more amenable to the option. Personally I would like to see UAB stay as a basketball school only and then add Liberty for ALL-SPORTS to still have 14 football members but to keep UAB in the league. They won the conference tournament with a team of mostly freshmen and sophomores. Jerod Haase is a really good coach. I love the way he prepares his team.

In 1995 Lutz was named the head coach at Gardner–Webb University, but resigned two weeks after accepting the job in order to become an assistant coach at his alma mater under head coach Jeff Mullins.

Kind of like pro fans getting upset that a team doesn't make this trade or that trade. It takes 2. You can't get everything you want.

Or certain members on here... :D

Prohm is an Alabama alum and allegedly at the top of the list of candidates in Tuscaloosa.

Lutz' agent must be working it hard because rumors are popping up everywhere for him. I used to love this time of year when I was in the media listening to the agents call me swearing I was getting the inside scoop. HaHa

Not too long ago you said the job was Moton's if he wanted it.

One of the greatest what-if's.....if Lutz had stayed, that means no Scruggs mess, etc. Lutz had a power progam on a roll at Pfeiffer and left it to come to GW, only to leave. Moxley stayed the first year on Scruggs staff and left, he's at NCSU now, it came down between him and Holtmann for the head job when Scruggs finally got canned.

Lutz is a very good coach. Whether or not his style, ethics, etc. mesh with the LU way or not is the question.

I'm watching the NC Cental vs Miami in the 1st round of the NIT. Moton is impressive how he has his team trap, press .. 70 -73 3.7 secs left in the game. Boy!!!! If we could land this guy as HC!

Miami won 75-71, so I guess Moton is now officially available (even though he is under contract for the next 7 years). I don't get why everyone is so sure he won't leave NCCU. Yes, it's his alma mater, but that doesn't make it a good job. The fact is, as D1 HC jobs go, its a really lousy one. No matter how amazing a job he does, the ceiling there is pretty low. He is going to leave eventually.
