If you can double check my taxes, you're in.

RULE CHECK: Does the rule apply when you have "quoted" someone else?
Very good question. While quoting another poster, the current Postee is exempt from the rule provided they are responding to another aspect in cited Post In the above case the Quoter is clearly referencing something from the Source Quote, in this case Taxes and the author of the Source Quote position in Government Service. Therefore even though the author of the Source Quote does nothing with the IRS, the second part of the Source Quote was assiduously avoided, thus being in compliance with both the Letter and Spirit of the Rule

I meant "close enough, you're good with numbers." Right? I mean, I need someone to keep track of who's who. All those numbers on the jerseys really confuse me. If you aren't ok with that, we have a deal breaker. ;)

I work on the medical side of the disability program with policy. However, I can assure you I can keep track of who's who based on jersey number...its the same concept and principle as medical coding of impairments and far less complicated in basketball.

Not sure, but JFL JR did hire me to coach before (LCA tennis).

don't know if he has been brought up but what about Bryant Stith? he is an assistant at ODU right now. has a great track record with player development and could be a force in the recruiting world. thoughts?

Thad Matta
Brad Stevens
Gregg Marshall
Chris Holtmann
Bob McKillop
Rick Byrd

What do they all have in common as assistants before becoming Head D1 Coaches?
Now there may be others I could add to this list but these are most common, popular to this Forum.
You figure it out and you have a model of what you should be looking for in a coach.

I'll drop by later today to help with the answer if no one gets it.

Very cryptic of you. I admit my curiosity is piqued, but I won't wrack my brain or burn up the internet looking for an answer, since you already said you would give it away later. Interesting that you said the key is in what they did as an assistant, because one of the coaches on the list, Bob McKillop, has virtually no experience as a college assistant. Prior to taking the HC job at Davidson he was a highly successful HS coach in New York. Sandwiched in between stints doing that he spent one year as an assistant at Davidson under Eddie Biedenbach. 10 years later he came back to be HC.

1. I don't have a job.
2. I don't know anything about basketball. (Why can't you tackle the guy with the ball?)
3. I was the RA for the MBB Dorm.
4. I slept at a Holiday Inn Express once.
5. I will hire PH to handle all "pharmaceutical" needs.

That is all.
Oh yeah well I have won MULTIPLE NCAA Championships on NCAA Basketball 10.

*None of the listed above ever had an BCS level assistant coaching experience.

Pretty good coaches to never have been at the 'public opinion Big Time level' before being a Head Coach -- Matta bounced around to several schools, Mckillop only had 1 year of collegiate assistant coaching experience before being named boss, Stevens only coached at Butler starting as a volunteer, Holtmann several small schools before GW/Ohio experience. Marshall was the classic NAIA/D2/before Charleston jumped up and a brief 2 year stint at Marshall U before the Winthrop era. I couldn't find much on Rick Byrd except he was a classic small guy that grew up with the Belmont, like Meyer would have been for LU.

Regarding the Bryant Stith advocates -- if the Hampton job opens, he will probably be a candidate there or another ODU assistant will be, I don't see him leaving ODU especially after his son left ECU to play for him at ODU.

I don't know if this name has been mentioned, but a buddy of mine has convinced me he's worth a look.

Mark Price

The current Charlotte Hornets assistant is a former All-ACC player and a 12-year vet in the NBA. He also fits with The Liberty Way.

Im not sure he'd really qualify as a 'name'. I don't think he has any college head coaching experience and only a couple as an assistant. I'd be all for giving him or Kevin Johnson a shot with the caveat the bring some college experience with them on staff.

(Bonus points: who was Mark Price's back court mate at GT?)

Easy Haize! Bruce Dalrymple, No. 45. I remember him being on the cover of one of the college basketball annuals back in the day. I may be wrong, though.

Craig Neal?
If you mean Craig Ehlo you are incorrect in that was from his Cavs days. Or Ron Harper. I just wish they still had those blue uni's!

I can't remember the guy's name but he was a 3-point marksman that wound up playing the Association as well. John Salley was running in those days as well if memory serves me well. Somebody go look this up. My mind is mush today.
