That's exactly my point. If you paid me enough money and gave me enough time, I could work up a study that could back up any outlandish statement.

What do you think attorneys do? They are paid to present the best case possible for those that hire them. Carr does exactly what they are paid to do. Welcome to the world of consulting. It is how I make my living ... at least when oil is above $60/barrel.

Did you read his report about LU? Is there any reason you have to believe that there are fabrications in there, based on your own knowledge of LU?

I don't think there are necessarly any fabrications in the report Liberty commissioned, but Carr had plenty of motivation to leave out any negative indicators that could have led to the conclusion that Liberty wasn't #FBSReady.

“I think our CEOs and our athletic directors are very heavily of the mind that 10 is the right number for us,” Commissioner Bob Bowlsby said. “And I was proud of our athletic directors for not overreacting. There was no knee-jerk to it. They were very thoughtful.”

It seems that they are determined not to expand, come hell or high water.

BJWilliams wrote:Sounds like they are doubling down. Does this mean they aren't getting approval for less than 12 for a championship game?
I don't know if they have any indication of that, but they're talking as if they don't necessarily want a conference championship game. In years past when they had 12 teams, the conference championship has ended up eliminating the team in the conference with the best record. Under the college playoff system, that could put them right where they were last season -- out of contention. That's why they're waiting to see if the ACC's proposal for a conference championship with <12 teams flies, and even if it does, I'm not sure they're all that excited about a championship game.

Based on a couple of his columns I read, he vigorously opposed UAB dropping football, which would tend to add to his already considerable credibility when he says it is not coming back.

Yes that's true. He stated that due to the current board, president and head powers that already canceled the program that no matter what the result is of this 3rd party study (similar to Carr but another group) it won't change anything.

It was my understanding that there is movement in the alabama government to establish a board of trustees at UAB and to allow them the autonomy most other State run universities have. while they answer ultimately to the state university board they would be able to make hiring and firing decisions without the boards approval etc. thus prying away the power that Little bear has over UAB. If this happens the idea is that said board would fire the current president and hire one that would be devoted to moving to have football return. Thats just what one of my friends who is a UAB employee has been saying. They have a shot. It just might take a little bit.

Alright quick history lesson for anyone who doesn't know: Gene bartow (founder essentially of UAB athletics) and bear Bryant had a little feud decades back because Gene bartow sent a letter to the NCAA in 1991 accusing Bear of cheating. Apparently that feud has been passed down to "little bear" of Bryant Jr. The problem is that UAt doesn't want any one in the state of alabama as competition so they attempt to control the state via the State university board. It's pretty much already shattered any hopes of UA huntsville of ever being any sort of significant. UAB was a different story. Where Junior and the over reaching Board comes into play is the "hiring" of Jimbo Fisher in 2006. Well that didn't happen because UAt was also looking at Jimbo Fisher and didn't want UAB to have the coach they wanted. They eventually hired Nick Saban. Now UAB has to settle for Neil Callaway. one of the worst coaching hires of all time. Since then the University system of alabama board of trustees has been trying really hard to block UAB from getting an on campus stadium. and now they have essentially killed the program. Here are a few articles if you have the time on the back ground of UAB and UAt Feud.
