The old joke is that the place used to be called Liberty Valley, but now it's Liberty Mountain. Big rug!

This whole thread makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. Just remember before football got to the playoffs I was in your shoes :) Thankfully When i was critical of the football program for not making it to the post season for many years I didn't have Donna Barber DMing me on twitter telling me I wasn't a true fan. Just you guys :) its ok though Winning cures all ills :)

Sidebar: before any of you tell me that the comparison is apples to oranges because basketball hasn't had ANY success this year, I know. Football won a ton of games. I get it. Call it Hyperbole. They still didn't live up to expectations just like basketball hasnt. Call it whatever you want. I just kinda thought it was funny.

If youre going to keep shooting your mouth off and being a d----- about it then yeah nothing else matters...

Look, I'm one of the bigger "koolaid drinkers" on the board, but I'm about as frustrated as the rest of you, if not more so, because I'm running out of positives to look for in this group. That said, I know that at the end of the day, I'm a fan. I'm not a player, so I don't have to drag myself out of bed for another morning weight room session as a losing streak grows. I'm not the head coach sitting in his office, looking for answers that never seem to come, no matter what he does. I'm not the athletic director who has to read fan emails and comments "bashing the team" because of the first two. Nobody here is any less of a fan for it, but at the end of every day, we are all still just fans.

Someone must have gotten an email from the 'Powers That Be' towing the Company line!
Actually, no I didn't. But hey, if that's what helps you sleep at night, then don't let me shine a light in your cozy little corner of darkness.

Sitting in office looking for answers isn't going to help. What will help is hit recruiting trail and find a couple of guys who can score 15-25 points every night.

Ballcoach, hitting the recruiting trail isn't going to help a) this year and b) when you aren't 100% sure youll be around to even coach those guys you recruit next season.

The one, slight difference is that football was always one game away from getting to the postseason for many years. Basketball we're further than one game away. We could get lucky again and win the BSC tournament, but those things tend to only happen once.

For the record, I never doubted your fandom.

We all pretty much acknowledge that Layer and staff haven't been successful in getting enough talent to Liberty and I for one will also go on board as saying they haven't done a very good job of developing and utilizing the talent they have, but to imply it is because they are all sitting in their offices wringing their hands when they should be out recruiting (pretty much calling them lazy) is unnecessary, unfair, and more importantly, I am quite sure inaccurate.

Agree with this. The part of that sentence you left out ballcoach, is where I said "no matter what he does". I'm pretty sure Coach Layer has been burning up his card (or whatever he uses to cover all those miles he flies and drives) seeking out players, but he still has to come home, sit in his office and try to figure out how to get something better out of the players that are already here as the losses keep mounting.

Dear Most Of You,

Please dont let your personal feelings for the coach (based on a 10 minute interaction and a skewed perception of someone just like you) interrupt logic and reasonable expectation.

That's All. Back To You In the Studio.......

If "most of us" have had a 10 minute interaction with Dale Layer that resulted in negative feelings, than there is probably something behind that.

Yes. I believe "his honor" is saying that many of those who have a positive impression of DL the person don't really know him. This is in fact true, but it doesn't mean they are wrong.

My comment "sitting in office" was a quote from someone's previous post. I have no idea if he sits in office or not, but I do know we need more playmakers, i.e. scorers.

Id guess he doest sit on his blessed assurance between all games and practices, but I'm sure when he has those few quiet moments, he is well aware of how bad this season has gone, and how answers just haven't come with Gielo being out all this time.

If Gielo had been healthy, I don't think we'd have won but maybe 2 more games. Heck we played someone other day who lost their leading scorer and I believe leading rebounder just before the game, and they still beat us.

If you would stop and comprehend for a second instead of responding first...we don't 100% for sure know how many more games we could have won. The point is, Coach Layer has pretty much tried everything and nothing has worked. I'm sure all this has weighed on him as much as it has all of us (Rooster included), and I'm sure that this has not been an easy process for JB either, without having to deal with all the stuff on here, on Facebook, on Twitter (Mrs Barber's comments notwithstanding) and anywhere else.

I wouldn't be surprised if he does (or someone from his office). I think its a good thing to at least read, and get the pulse of the fans (or at least a segment of the fans). NOW, I would find it highly suspect if he used the comments on here in the actual process of making hiring/firing or other important decisions day to day.
