I thought it started out okay, but as with every Coffeehouse, there is a point in the night where it starts putting people to sleep and/or the acts start sucking. It wasn't great, but it wasn't the worst ever, either.

I think the singing couple should be banned from all future coffeehouses.

I always thought they put Coffeehouse together the way that (I imagine) they put together an SNL episode. Put your good material out there first, your really funny stuff in the middle and then just fill in the back end w/ whatever crap will fit or save somebody's feelings.

Unfortunately, after Ramey Harder graduated, there wasn't much good material and Coffeehouse was run by Student Life so it was never that funny. Also unfortunately for us back in the day, Coffeehouse was a late-night activity so, if you didn't want to get written up when you got back to the dorm, you had to sit/sleep through the ultra-crappy back end to get your Late Night slip from the nazis at the door.

Still, I wonder which was better in recent years, Coffeehouse or SNL? SNL is not so bad this year -- and by not bad, I mean not quite the weekly sinkhole it's been for the last few seasons (Good riddance, Tina Fey!) -- but Coffeehouse has always sucked.

I was told after last semester (the first coffeehouse I attended), this time would be better. It was actually worse, except for the fat kid......he was funny. Every band sucked, Bosc SUCKED (I wanted to put a bullet in my head) at the bomb fire...........the student life office is racist to the types of ideas that are funny, and it makes me sick they determine what is offensive to others....

I would suggest bring back Gomer, and let him decide what is offensive

bosc doesn't suck...the bonfire i will admit they absolutely did suck...but every other time i have seen them play they have been good....and there is no way on this earth this years was better then lasts...there was much more variety...this year it was too exedus oriented....so annoying.....

oh, I will agree both coffeehouse's were tick-poor.....
I was just referring to the bonfire where they sucked, and the fat guy announcing this year was better than the Valentine's coffeehouse....

Yeah, some guy was telling me he was from Exodus, and seemed upset I had no clue who he was and that I have been here for four years...I told him I don't have to go to convo anymore to here the bands

I think they are the "B" band, meaning those who don't make the Campus Praise Band are blended together for Exodus.

completely random...and just out of boredom, i keep looking for the group on facebook complaining about coffeehouse...i want to read what they have to say...the only one i find is a group being positive about it....and i think they are deleting every negative thing said....which is kind of lame....anyways, i just want to check out what people are saying on all sides...but can't seem to find it...someone had mentioned something about it earlier....

i pretty much hate student life....

whoa whoa whoa that is uncall- ok yeah i really didn't like anyone there when i worked there either....it wasn't as bad 4-5 years ago as you make it is sound today but it was still a little snobbish..

luckily my only responsibility was to hand out ping pong paddles, play ps2, and eat candy and smoothies all night....non taxed minimum wage + food and drinks i'd say i made close to 10 bucks an hour there

david's place I am guessing....that seemed cool for like the first 3 weeks of school, then it faded fast.....

there is one guy from student life i am friends with and he doesn't befriend people simply because they are in a band or "scene" or whatever it is they require somebody to be to be friendly to them...overall student lifers are just what you said...snobish....

yeah dp....yeah the first 3 or 4 weeks was bad...all the time...mon-sun....especially during freshman orientation or whatever...then when everyone realized it was quite a trek the next 4 weeks it would be semi busy during the weekends but dead on the weekdays...eventually it was completely dead most of the time...

i also had the responsibility of unlocking lahaye lounge every day.... i walked by it on the way to the dorms...my 3 seconds got me .5 hour on my time card...score

I'll freely admit that she was good for a long while, particularly when she had Will Ferrell to fall back on. I also liked the movie she wrote and I do like her new show but the writing on SNL was just horrendous for her last 2 years as head writer. When you're in charge and your show is hands down the 2nd-funniest network comedy show on Saturday night, I'm sorry but you've gotta go. I'm guessing that production on '30 Rock' was more than a little distracting for her but they should have handed the reins off to Seth Meyers much earlier.
