Purple isn't against the idea of being different or unique, the problem comes from the idea that there is a certain right way to go about it.

I'm a fan of Boise State's field. Eastern Washington's field took some getting used to, but it has grown on me. I'm not a fan of Central Arkansas' field, and while I will pass most of my aesthetic judgements for after the project is finished, I have to wonder why CCU is going to that length. I mean, they are already a nationally relevant program in the very short time Coach Moglia has been there. They took the #2 overall seed and (now) 4 time and defending national champion to the limit, beat Montana in their building, and attained the highest ranking ever for a Big South school in, I believe, any sport. If they want to be unique, that's all well and good, that's just not how I would have tried it.

Do you like the field or just have to make sure that there is never any record of you and BJ being on the same page? Inquiring minds would like to know.

Haha. That's a great question! Actually, I stated earlier that I liked it and thought it would look better live. I thought doing ours dark navy with red end zones would be cool

well how about you lay the silver and or grey uni's on that navy blue field, as the recruits see their name and or picture on the big screen video board

No, I agree with you. I floated the idea of red and blue tennis courts...and now we have them :D

Having a tennis court that isnt green isnt a new thing (heck they play on different colored courts all over the world...Roland Garros anyone?), and its not something that is so heavily ingrained into the tradition of the sport except on grass.

As I said before, my biggest question is why are they doing it?

Slight difference between a clay court and your standard American hard court, especially in college tennis where the trend was/is the US Open format (blue court on green). We got the idea for our courts after seeing VT's maroon and orange courts.

They didn't exactly paint the clay red in Paris.

Yo answer your question, why shouldn't Coastal have a teal field? It is one of their colors after all. Does the color give them some sort of an unfair gameday advantage? If not...why not?

This is kind of like saying that having a basketball court that isn't light brown isn't a new thing and then using Rucker Park as your primary example. Or, better yet, this place:

First one that came to mind. If I wanted to use a hardcourt, I guess Indian Wells or Key Biscayne would have worked better. My point is, a non-traditional color for a tennis court isn't as telling as a football field. Anyway, as I said before, I'm saving most of my aesthetic judgements until after the project is finished.

actually, No its not, as long as it not during a game or media sponsored type event then its not a problem. I think you may have misinterpreted how I was saying it. So unless their official visit is considered a function then along with PH's crazy field idea I don't "THINK" there is a violation, because there is no media and the visits are not open to the GP.

NCAA rule book.

13.11.5 Introduction of Prospect. An institution may not introduce a visiting prospect
at a function (e.g., the institution's sports award banquet or an intercollegiate athletics
contest) that is attended by media representatives or open to the general public.
Violations of this bylaw do not affect a prospect's eligibility and are considered
institutional violations per Constitution 2.8.1. (Revised: 1/14/97)

I think what forbidden is getting at, with the appropriate NCAA rule in mind, is bringing a kid in on a visit, then having the folks who put together the stuff for the video board, put together a mockup similar to what we do on gamedays. That way they can literally picture themselves in the stadium, only it would be an empty stadium with no scheduled event involved.

As to how you got thrown into it PH, I think he wants to marry that to your navy blue field idea (which I'm not a fan of personally).

That still makes no sense

But the blue field is still a cool idea

For once I agree with PH, a navy blue field with red end zones would look really cool. If you do a color other than green it has to look good with your end zone color and IMVHO navy blue and red looks better than teal and bronze.

You are correct, a video board may be used, and also correct that it cannot be done at a function. However, you talked of using their name and picture on the board. NCAA rules expressly prohibit the use on a video board of any materials specifically created for recruiting purposes, as anything with the PSA's name or likeness surely would be.

this here be a true statement. We can set up a jersey with their # all nice and pretty like but can't put their face up there.

Now, is it possible to interpret as a possible NCAA violation, putting on the video board, "Liberty Football welcomes (insert recruit's name here), because the message could potentially be viewed by the GP (ie everyone who drives/walks past the stadium)?
