I would'nt tickle you anything, lol. I never said that I was an expert at anything, what I did offer was MY opinion, nothing more nothing less. Well the way I wanted the team to dress worked for what I was tasked to accomplish, but hey I can assure you that some of the blowhards on here wouldnt of been tasked to hold the door for fans let alone pick out team colors.

I can't argue that. I'm surprised how some people here can even dress themselves. Heck, I don't think PA wears pants half the time

You rang? I really need to get a bat signal or something when posts like this come up.

I stopped reading the tinkle(yes thats my edit) match half way through. Look, uniforms in past years before the oregon/nike love fest began, were all about the schools. Their colors, their mascots, their identity. That focus has since shifted in college athletics. We have throwbacks, black(remember our black unis a few years back), Lead, Camo etc. Want to know why? because 17-23 year olds think its cool. THEY are the ones who drive the change. If you remember oregon wasn't exactly a national powerhouse before they started making their equipment guys jobs incredibly difficult with their infinite amount of jersey pants and helmet combos. but you know what happened when they did that? they started recruit better talent. the highschool kids loved it and still do. So in short the uni focus now is all about looking cool and intimidating. IT HELPS RECRUITING. plain and simple. Mercer broke out lead this year and our kids LOVED it. We've had a black one but thats our secondary color. Wanna know what jersey we used the least this year? our primary color. Orange. now for arguments sake orange is an awful color. (Right sj?) Liberty has the luxury of having a wonderful color combo to work with within the school color spectrum.
Chris and the guys @libertyEquipment do one heck of a job. I loved the uni's this year. and personally I would'nt mind seeing a lead jersey with red trim. however, fan opinion, especially at a school like Liberty is going to vary so widely that it will be impossible to please everyone. Baptist siders will want the traditional red whites and blues. and thats great. its worked out pretty well for schools like Alabama. The young'ns want SWAG. (btw I hate that word. its been banned from use in my office.) They want to look cool and different and change it up once and awhile. which is also fine. its worked well for oregon, and many other teams across the country.
In short in the realm of football aesthetics its the athletes opinion that really matters. If you have an old out dated uni that doesn't hold some sort of nostalgia or iconism in the sport then you won't be relevant with todays youth. now having said that winning cures all ills. if you make it to the national championship every year a kids gonna look at you(case and point the ugliest unis in college football: NDSU)
also sidenote: Grey jerseys are considered a neutral color and in some but not all conferences you have to have both teams and the conference's permission to wear them.
any questions?

In a nutshell, FFG said everything that needed to be said on the matter. Even on both fronts from the oldies point of view and from the lol "yougins" point of view. The team will take on the overall persona of the HC, but you can def get another player or to with the uniform thing, and the extra player or two could be the difference between a second round falter or possibly that appearance in the semis and or chip game. Noone here can say that with another player or two that couldn't of happened. The school's mission doesn't change or won't change because they have an exotic looking uniform. Everyone would agree that they say it takes a different kind of kid to come to LU anyways so what would be so wrong with that "extra" come in the form of being different in our uniforms.

No, not really, but I have put a few kids from HS into different colleges, so I have a little pulse as to what they like, and like to hear, and also what's being told to them from some of the college recruiters that have stopped thru. From Big10 to ACC down to D3 schools, all the coaches come in with a spiel to give the kids to try and sway them towards their school. I hope you don't really think every kid at LU is there because it's where they really want to be. Big difference in being someplace because you hv to be vs want to be. That's just real talk

Oregon is the exception, not the rule. When unique jersey designs are involved it should still include the schools colors, Oregon does that sometimes with the "green apple" jerseys or the highlighter yellow as I usually call it. But all white and all black don't make sense for a school whose colors are green and yellow. So Liberty shouldn't just go, "oh yeah we have a gray jersey now because it looks cool". There has to be a reason. WVU has a gray alternate jersey, I believe PH correct me if I'm wrong, because it has a connection to the culture of the state. The only alternate colors outside of red, white and blue Liberty should ever use are green and gold throwbacks and midnight game black for the club teams that are actually allowed to play midnight games. I like having a cool alternate jersey but you need a reason to have one. There's really no connection to gray anywhere in the culture of the school so we shouldn't use a gray alternate.

Not that I can recall that is has any connection to the state culture. Here it is str8 from a FBS coaches mouth.

West Virginia's all-gray alternate uniforms have been previewed online, discussed by Dana Holgorsen, and finally made their official debut on Wednesday.

The school's publicity department dressed wide receiver Ryan Nehlen in the full uniform, and the threads got a positive reaction from some of the players.

"I like them," senior tailback Shawne Alston told The Charleston Gazette. "It's just something a little different."

Alston also mentioned the advantage the alternate uniforms could have in recruiting, citing something coach Dana Holgorsen said last week.

"It's a recruiting thing," Holgorsen said of the alternate uniforms. "If you look across the country, we're behind on this. Everyone is going (Nike) Pro Combat. Everyone has three or four new uniforms. We're far from that. It's recruiting. Why is everyone doing it? Because the kids want it. It's television and marketing and the kids get excited about what they can see."

The Mountaineers will continue to have the gold, blue, and white jerseys and pants as options. Now with a gray and blue helmet available, West Virginia has 32 potential uniform combinations. But if you ask Alston, there is still one look he would like to see.

"Like if you went out and got some all-black [uniforms] I might redshirt this year and come back next year," Alston joked.

I mean seriously it is what it is, and we can debate till were blue in the face. You dont have to like it, but its the truth of the matter.

Schools don't need a "reason" to do an alternate non school color jersey. Recruiting is enough of an incentive. Oregon actually has posted on their website under their marketing athletics policy 4 school colors. Lightning yellow(pantone 107) Thunder green(pantone 567) Black(pantone BLK) and White(Pantone WHT) so in theory they did wear their school color during the national championship. It just wasn't one of their two primary colors. (black and white are secondary). Schools go off from their primary colors all the time. Here are a few examples:
Airforce black jersey
Texas tech on multiple occasions
Boise State Black & grey
Baylor Black
UNC black
Georgia State Lead
South Alabama Grey
Troy Lead
Tennessee Lead
Northwestern Black & grey
Nebraska Black
Fresno State Black
South Carolina Grey
Penn Grey
UNLV grey
Louisville Grey
Arkansas State Grey
Arkansas Grey
Kentucky Grey
Washington State Grey
Oklahoma State Grey
UCLA Grey & Black
Texas A&m black and grey
Kansas Grey
Georgia Southern Grey
I could keep going but you get the picture. everyone is doing it. there are some pretty hefty programs on that list and regardless of what fans think teams will keep doing it. Because it helps recruiting. and the players love it.

Don't get me started on those ugly azz WVU Greys. Gawed awful! And if yu notice they don't wear them very much if at all anymore? Why? Because they were awful. And, straight from the marketing dept, didn't go over mainly because there was really no tie in to the school.

and it their perogative to feel that, but at the same time, its those same little things that kids"the players" actually want, that could like I said could be the difference between another victory or two. But hey, LU has such a big pool to choose from anyways it should make no difference right. LOL. While most other schools have double digit recruits well before the signing day, LU has to hope and pray they can pull a rabbit out the hat to secure who they are targeting vs. who they have to end up accepting.

But hey HCTG is attempting with the new uni's from last year, but it could still go one step further. My next arguement will be again getting names on the back, lol. Nah, maybe not.
