At least 10 of the 13 MEAC schools would have to support it for it to pass. Would like to see be nice for the Big South to get SC St., Bethune-Cookman, NC A&T, FAMU, or Hampton, but it depends on who supports the change. Based on what I read and hear, SC St. would definitely leave if this passes.

The Big South should get to 10 football schools regardless of what happens with the MEAC. I personally would rather see North Alabama than any MEAC school, but the top MEAC teams would also be good additions to the Big South.

Commissioner Benson says he expects a decision by the NCAA on whether or not a conference can hold a football championship game with less than 12 teams to be made within 90 days. If the decision is yes, they would be in favor of staging one with the 11 teams they have:

Very little could spell the end of realignment. But this would certainly slow down the cycle with a couple of the key dominoes for another realignment flurry hanging on this decision.

By all indications, there do not appear to be the votes to get this CCG deregulation passed.

It is some legislative committee that makes the proposal which supposedly will be voted on around the Final Four from everything that I saw a few months back. Benson's 90 days fits that timeline.

Big XII/Sun Belt deregulation keeps getting pushed back because there is a strong consensus against their plan. The ACC deregulation plan is a separate matter.

The ACC deregulation plan is about 1 million times better, the two division champions may not always be the two best two teams in the league. Especially in the ACC where the two best teams are in the same division and leaps and bounds better than everyone else in the conference. Same with the B1G, while the skill gap might be slightly smaller, as it stands right now whoever wins the East will be a double digit favorite in the championship game.
