Pelini wasn't the most charismatic of coaches which hurt his recruiting IMO. Billy managed to get 4&5 star talent there he just had other problems (coaching).4everfsu wrote:Tulsa fired their HC

I think this is probably the type of job we should worry about losing our head coach. I have no idea what Gill's looking for in the immediate future but he'd probably have to breakthrough the lower FBS ranks to get a crack at a Power-5 school again. Tulsa just seems like it'd be a good fit.
I don't care for Colin Cowherd very much but he nailed Nebraska. Elite level athletes don't want to spend 4-years in a cornfield. Getting players to some of these midwest schools is a challenge and Pelini did as good a job as any could have expected him to do in that setting. I think they're going to end up kicking themselves soon in letting him go.

At Nebraska it isn't all about winning, we want the glory days back. And it is about doing it the Nebraska way. That's why it is so hard to coach there. There is heritage and pelini didn't share that, he wasn't cut from that cloth, and he didn't cut the muster. NU will hire someone with Lincoln connections, with winning hc experience.Again, this will be a huge factor in their search. They've had enough of doing it some other way.
Personally, I think, if they can get it worked out Bohl is the perfect man for the job.
Look, he has won in North Dakota.... A lot...... He played under Osborne and coached under Osborne in national championships.
He had his on legendary time at ndsu. I mean Lincoln won't be easy to recruit to. But surely it isn't as bad as Fargo. The only thing against him is that he hint the youngest guy out there.
Fact is he is the man for the job, and Bo should have been let go several seasons ago and Bohl called.

If he can duplicate the success he had at Wisconsin, Nebraska fans would love him.I just think Nebraska would be best with a 'Nebraska' guy. Granted he has a system that fits what Nebraska wants but whey leave Arkansas for that?
Bielema is someone Michigan should also consider. I think they should also think about getting Barry Alvarez for AD. Some think Greg Schiano is destined for Michigan.

If he wins its no big deal but if he's average well, it doesn't look like his personality will endear him to any fans.ALUmnus wrote:Been reading that Nebraska may be going after Bret Bielema. Of course his wife, who he met in a Vegas casino, is smoking hot so that's a plus regardless

That may be just a knee-jerk reaction to the way they blew a nearly 20 point half time lead against Rutgers at home. But the more interesting thing was how many times Bo Pelini's name was mentioned as a possible replacement for Edsall. I don't know if it's overconfidence in the power of Under Armour money or actually thinking he would take the job if available.Maryland gave Edsall a fully guaranteed contract for $2 million/season over six years in July 2011. If they want to fire him, Maryland/Under Armour can swing that.

A 6'1" WR who runs a 4.3 40 would sooner care about your academics before they thought about your "tradition." And good luck finding a "Nebraska" man. That plan certainly worked out for Michigan.VAGolf wrote:Reading Nebraska fans think their too good for Beliema is my new favorite activity. Nebraska would be lucky to reel in Carroll McCray.![]()
