The best chance to make the playoffs (so far) was in 2009 against Stony Brook. 8-2 coming into the game with only losses to West Virginia (20-33) and JMU (10-24). Except for a major hiccup at Charleston Southern (W 20-13), we were on a six game winning streak with dominating wins. All we had to do was win the game....

IMO, that SB team was better than this years CCU. I know it can be debated but I think I'm correct. Which is why I stated it :D

In 2009, Stony Brook finished 6-5 (were 5-5 when we played at LaVelle). Maybe you are thinking of 2012 when we upset them at home?

In my opinion, 2011 and 2012 Stony Brook were both better than 2014 Coastal.

Less than 24 hours till kickoff. Yes Im building up hope, thats what I like to do as a fan, but .. What a HUGE! win this would be for our program... , over the hump. On the Road against FCS #1, to secure a playoff birth.

I hate how excited I get for big games, but I can't help myself. I am excited about tomorrow even if I think we probably can't win I am still holding out hope.

I hope we do run a lot, including more Masha runs. We need to own the TOP. I think we will pull out everything and the kitchen sink. I have high hopes as well. We can do this....still. I'm telling you, they are over rated and vulnerable. We shall see.

I though Masha played well last week except for the interceptions. He put up good numbers in his first start, especially considering it was on short notice.

And....a coastal fan just said on their board (shush PH) that he's scared of Masha since when they give up a big play, it's on the run. They better be scared of DJ too

IF you wouldn't bring other board comments here you wouldn't have to be so worried. Although this is IMO a legit concern. And in life we all get a Mulligan

True story, I met a coastal fan in Myrtle Beach today. First time that's ever happened on any of my golfing trips. He even talked a little smack. Rooting for Masha, kid's put in a tough spot. Gotta feel for Josh as well you know this is eating him alive. We usually play well when we're not supposed to win. We have to actually win and do more than play well though.

If we put in the spread option this week, we could have some serious success on offense. Just gotta hope the D can keep us in it. Everything revolves around them.

Hopefully the team and particularly Masha can handle the hostile environment. He had an advantage in his first start by having to play in the friendly (most of the time) confines.

The environment at Coastal really isn't all that hostile. Not at the games I have attended there anyway.

I agree Jon, I have been or record here for a long time, saying that in order to win the BSC and advance very far in postseason, that a spread option is the best way to achieve that.
I am not sure they can put in the spread option in just a week, but I am not an expert in that field. Hopefully they can, it is not too far from the realm of possibility since we run the option some. I told someone at the game last week, that I have been thinking all season, that we should spring that against CCU in the last game and mess up their gam planning. However, with Woodrum hurt, and Masha showing signs of being pretty green, it wouldn't be all that surprising now. Hope we can pull it off tomorrow. If we do, I am going to have a nice, red, tribal eagle tattoo on my shoulder by next month. GO FLAMES. Trying not to get too pumped, but it is hard.

Summary of my feelings about this team over the past week-

Excitement level last Friday: 10
Excitement level last Sunday: 5
Excitement level Tuesday: 9
Excitement level Thursday: 4
Excitement level at 11:00 pm the night before the game: 10

Good grief. I'm either a die-hard fan or a glutton for punishment...or both, since this is Liberty (and I'm also a Cubs fan).
