That changed when they talked their way out of this year's game in Harrisonburg to play Maryland in Landover instead.

I guess HMO is working with the Kennesaw State game as Homecoming 2015. I had to push back our bi-annual HoCo roadie to next year so I can now start developing plans. Originally the plan was to fly my wife to NYC for a weekend and sneak over to Monmouth. Now perhaps a road trip combining the two will be in order.

It certainly shouldn't be tough selling tickets with that home lineup, JoeyRix.

That still does not address two things: our 6th home game and the scheduling of Montana and WVU. It does look like our bye week probably will be Halloween weekend though

BJWilliams wrote:balllcoach made a comment about getting quality FCS teams that travel well into Lynchburg and it actually got me to thinking about our schedule for next year (even though I know that our 2014 opener is in just 12 days). Here is what we are looking at for the schedule. I will fill in a couple hypothetical dates to allow for some context:

Sep 05 - TBA
Sep 12 - @ West Virginia
Sep 19- Montana
Sep 26 - James Madison
Oct 03 - @ Georgia State
Oct 10 - @ Gardner-Webb*
Oct 17 - @ Monmouth*
Oct 24 - Kennesaw State*
Oct 31 - Open
Nov 07 - Presbyterian*
Nov 14 - @ Charleston Southern*
Nov 21 - Coastal Carolina*

If this is what the schedule looked like, we would have one more game to fill (assuming JMU actually keeps the game). If we filled the 09/26 date. that would mean opening with 8 straight games. If we filled the 10/31 date, that would come right in the middle of conference play (following our first ever matchup with Kennesaw State), and close the season with 9 straight games. My question is, who would we be able to find to fill one of those two dates that would be a "meter mover" and would also travel very well for the game?
Here is how the schedule looks in light of Lang's last couple posts. All we need is the 6th home game (either September 5 or October 31) and we will be complete

What's VMI doing on September 5th? That would be a nice way to start the year.

Why not bring Coach Minter and Campbell in? Be nice to welcome him back to the mountain

Yeah, considering the three weeks that follow I would suspect that we schedule a relatively easy FCS opponent for that home opener. I'm thinking MEAC, NEC or possibly one of those Pioneer schools you guys are clamoring to play. Although I'd love to see us sign a home-and-home with HBU considering all of the connections between our programs (how many Division I schools have a former Flame QB running the show who also happened to work with Coach Gill?). But I'm just being greedy.

Oh I am sure some will find an excuse to complain. That's just how we roll around here.

With that three week stretch Sly (and three home games in four weeks), getting off on the right foot is key. JMU I don't believe will have Lee back (he is a redshirt junior so we will see) so that game looks very winnable and we can get some awesome momentum in the early part of the season

They may end up top 20 next year after this three game losing streak...still this schedule definitely is high on Q-rating with our first playoff appearance this season. Hey manson, anymore word on who the last game will be against?

Assuming we get an FCS home game this is our strongest schedule we have ever had. Two great home games vs. Montana and JMU.

Maybe. However, this year we only had one team on the schedule (as it turns out) that had a losing record (GWU). NC, APP State, Richmond, Indiana State and CCU were formidable foes this year -that's 3 FCS playoff teams and 2 FBS teams. Not to mention CSU was ranked at one point and we beat a ranked (at the time) Bryant team.

At east we're not shying away from competition and filling the schedule with D2 teams.

Don't forget Brevard (1-10)....

I think his point is that while we did have Brevard on the schedule, that, a byprduuct of last year's scheduling clusterbomb caused by JMU taking the money from Maryland and postponing our game with them, that was an exception and not the rule as in years prior. JB wants all D1 going forward, which tells me that if we are in a similar situation, youll see calls to at the very least weaker D1 schools as opposed to schools like Wingate, Brevard, Kentucky Wesleyan etc.

We had Brevard twice because Stony Brook left the Big South and Brevard wanted two games in return for scheduling them very late for the 2013 season.

Chippy said we only had one team with a losing record (GWU). When in reality, we had three teams with a losing record out of twelve regular season games (NSU, Brevard, and GWU) and a few others one game above .500 (currently, UNC, App. State, Presbyterian, Monmouth). The schedule ended up being more difficult than anyone anticipated at the beginning of the season, but it can be even better. If we can get another FCS game, 2015 will be much stronger than this season.
