LUconn is correct on one account: Gregg Doyel is a hack. That's a not so anonymous attack.

Coach--very eloquent and well-stated. Thanks--and your input and insights are always appreciated. I, for one, know how much LU means to you and your family, and I am certain that you would not bring in a player who would knowingly tarnish the university. If we are to be THE true evangelical university, are we not to minister to those in need? To me, that is EXACTLY what you are doing in this case (sure, it doesn't hurt that he has serious game, too). Good luck the next 2-3 weeks and I pray the boys keep getting after it on the court--that kind of passion will carry over nicely to next year.

I believe everyone else has pretty much given every reason why that post by the guest was ridiculous, but i would also like to say i appreciate you as a coach and as a person. Thanks for never backing down from a challenge!

Bottom line, he's a good coach but even more importantly he's a good man, you call him up and he'll talk to you about everything, and wont keep anything in the dark...he's not ashamed of anything...thanks for everything coach, it wont be long until all of these times are a distant memory and we too are amoung the league leaders

For the record, intheknow is not some mystery person. The guest has regularly posted on this and our old boards before. I'm a little disappointed that this poster didn't used their registered name in their posts in this thread. But we all have our reasons but it would've given their arguments more credibility.

Thanks to Coach once again proving why we have been so willing to stand behind him during this tough season. He is a man of character & integrity. And as LUconn mentioned, I hope he doesn't feel compelled to only post on this board when some anonymous poster fires some shots.

Let me clear the air and like FSN 32 said that I am NOT "intheknow" Yes I work closely with all of our sports teams... but let's be honest there is no way that I would ever say anything like that about Coach Dunton or any other coaches...I work for the University and know where the lines are... So please next time ask me first before calling me out... Like everyone else we got all the faith in you Coach I know how hard you are working and keep at it... the end result will be well worth it..

How about the job that Anthony Smith has done defensively in our latest stretch. Goes to Birmingham and holds Dwayne Paul to 1 point, does a great job on Sumpter in our Longwood win(who btw has beaten JMU and Hampton since leaving the Vines) and last night holds Shuler to 1 field goal after he had 27pts on Sat. He is a defensive presence as a freshman! Throw on top on that 17pts/7rebs last night. IMO Larry Blair had his best game in a Flames uniform last night. 34 of his 37 inside the arc is a sign on a dominating physical performance at 6'0". His will to win is what this immature group needs to carry the wagon home. Rell Porter does an incredible job and ALWAYS competes. Evan and Damien contributed positives but need to get past the yo-yo stage of competition and mature to the higher level of competitive greatness. It was a special victory for a struggling yet courageous group of young men. Thank you for all the props and kind words--the future is going to bring days to make even Stevev proud.

Thanks for dropping by, Coach. I think it is safe to say we are all proud of you guys this morning. I'm glad you brought up Anthony's defense. Performances like that often get missed when everyone is caught up in LB's eyepopping numbers.

Thanks coach. What a great win for the program. Keep up the hard work. I was glad to see the transfers in on the celebration at the end.

I noticed in the Winthrop game, the guy checking Smith for most of the game was jawing with him and kind of waving him off. At the end, Anthony looked to take it a little personal. That guy wasn't going to stop Smith last night.

I love a little chip on the shoulder. This team def. hasn't quit.

Yeah Td that was James Shuler. The students were getting on him since he was in Smith's ear the whole first half.

I loved it.

Before I blew out my back, when I played, I used to love those kinds of guys that would talk at me. It would only cause me to play and work harder. That guy couldn't check Smith, he was open all game long. At some point, you stop running your mouth. He didn't get the memo. :)

I hate to have to reminisce on the glory days, but my senior year in high school we were playing the top team in our conference. Their best player was guarding me and he had a tendency to talk smack all game. I took it personal, and I crossed him over at midcourt and he fell to the ground. Oh how I loved it! Needless to say, he didn't talk to much the rest of the game.

Mr. Smith Goes to Lynchburg.

gonna be a movie someday- the guy can play.

not that it was lost on those of us who follow the team, but a little known or little apprecitated stat repeated on the BSOUTH board (and taken from the game summary) is that we have a solid defense- one of the better ones in the conf- right up there w/WU.

gotta give credit where credit is due- and this is one area where the guys have been consistent.

"I appreciate the confidence of "intheknow" that I may be in the top five Big South coaches" (Dunton)

I laughed out loud when I read that one! I do not know who "in the know" is, so I guess I'm not "in the know." Anyway,
I will say this: Coach is 100 times the writer that "in the know" is. Most don't want to hear a bunch of trash talking junk on this site, but it would help if Mr. Whoever would spend some time on proper presentation of ideas. Is he a Liberty grad? Maybe his writing teachers were not in the top 5 in the Big South? How are we going to have the program we deserve at LU as long as we have such mediocre writers ? I just want the best for LU, and "Intheknow" is not it.

I'm going light now, but just remember this - I don't know anything about Randy Dunton. Don't listen to anything I say.
Sob Sob, I don't think you guys love me, and I don't know why. Why can't we just all hate Randy Dunton and live happily ever after? I don't like the new guys. Can't we get all the the former assistant & head coaches back here and put them all on the bench
together? They can keep their shirts tucked in, never raise their voices, and love all the little boys and girls to death. They can take a vote every time they have to make a decision. Other places have new head coaches. Why can't we? Dwight is a bad boy, and he even has a girlfriend. What kind of a person is he? Why am I the only one that sees that RD is the antichrist? I don't think I can take this kind of pressure anymore. My ideas are not being accepted, and then, doggone it, they have to go and beat WINTHROP! Why does everything go against me? Life is not fair. You'll all miss me when I sign in.

With love,

Little Jerry

Hello HMO,

Does that :?: mean we do not enjoy a touch of sarcasm with a pinch of causticity added in for good measure?

Sincerely,

Sarcasm was what I was thinking but I just got lost along the way (can easily happen) but anyways back on topic....everyone look for a good showing from the Flames tomorrow...I was at practice tonight and they looked tough and focused, and Rish showed good leadership at the point...not to mention the boys that will join the fight next year...if you haven't seen them play yet guys, do yourself a favor and go over there and watch (even you haters that are guests, you can stand in the back and nobody would know you were even there! ), Tyler, Brew, Alex....they're tough, but I try not to get myself to hyped until i see them on the court, thats the way I roll ever since Hank....

That's good HMO. I wish I could drop in right now. I'll guarantee you that I'd be "Fired up for the Flames!"

God bless.

Oh yes, that signature of "Little Jerry" had to do with my personal name (Gerald aka Jerry). There was no allusion to the good Rev, if that too might have crossed anyone's mind. BTW, there is a good possibility that you and I have at least exchanged a handshake at one of the Big South games.
