The line will always move away from Liberty. We dont have enough people that bet on our school to move a line. UNC boosters are throwing down a couple 100 on the game and moving the line. Thats not the general public moving it in my opinion.

I agree with your point, but last year's opening line in the Kent State game was somewhere around Liberty +30. It closed under 20.

Interesting. Maybe my point only applies to a Major Conference DI school with thousands more fans and much higher percentage of gamblers.

I think that the FCS-FBS games attract fewer casual gamblers. The only people that I know who bet on FCS-FBS games gamble all the time. They think that they are smarter than the bookies.

Got a donor's seats for this game. Will be in 209/B. Cannot wait! I put lunch on this game with a coworker of mine... He's a UNC grad. Senseless people.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- High above Navy Fields, assistant strength and conditioning coach Simon Haake sits behind a laptop, overlooking practice. As he watches, a live stream of data feeds to his screen. On the field, 10 Tar Heel football players wear Catapult GPS units during practice that allow coaches to monitor various aspects of performance like distance, velocity, acceleration and work rate.

With head strength coach Lou Hernandez right behind him, Haake watches the data roll in, occasionally looking down at the field or consulting a practice plan to cross-reference the numbers he’s getting with what the players are actually doing. Eventually, the data gathered by the Catapult units could help formulate new, more efficient practice plans.

On August 30th, the Liberty Flames will travel to Chapel Hill for the Tar Heels’ first football game. This is the classic game between a power conference team (UNC), and a very small, little known school (Liberty), that many good teams schedule for an easy non-conference win. These games are designed to build confidence and improve a team’s record. Last season, North Carolina played Old Dominion and won 80-20. The year before, they dominated Elon (winning 62-0) and Idaho (winning 66-0). Like I said, easy wins.

However, if UNC takes this game too lightly, they could lose. It may seem unlikely, but remember when Michigan (then ranked 5th in the country) got stunned by Appalachian State in 2007, losing 34-32. If UNC suffers a similar fate, they would not only be humiliated, but would have a very difficult time overcoming the loss to have a successful season.

Good question. I have only seen plans to caravan down to Chapel Hill.

You run the risk with a big event on this game if it turns out to be a blowout as most experts predict. You don't want to leave a bitter taste in everyone's mouths before your home opener.

I don't think this game is of a magnitude that would warrant a special showing. Now if we were playing Alabama, then maybe.

Once we play at home, I hope fans fill the stadium, especially students. Student attendance has fallen the past couple years I believe.

I think our first two results will have an effect on our turnout for the Brevard game. if we are 1-1 with a blowout win and even a mildly competitive loss to UNC, we will have a pretty good turnout. not 19,000 but definitely a good size crowd. I know Coach JK hates this, but if we are 1-1 in the OTHER direction, that Norfolk State loss will probably cost us a few thousand fans. In the unlikely event that we are 2-0, I think we could be looking at our first 20,000 outside of graduation. if we are 0-2, we may be lucky to break 15,000

The fans should pack the stadium regardless of W-L record. Granted there are a lot of "fair weather" fans at every school. But everyone should support their school.
Also I'd like to see some OOC games in which the visiting team brings in a lot of fans. The fans of most FCS teams do not travel well.

Really the only school that I remember that traveled even slightly well is JMU. Bryant is in Rhode Island so they probably won't bring a ton of fans. Richmond might bring a good contingent but with that being homecoming you know theyre gonna want a ton of red in the stands for that game.

Ball coach before i had scrolled down to your post i had decided to comment. I really don't think our record has any bearing on how many fans show up. weather could be a factor, you can take a look at several posts of people saying they are coming to homecoming or CFAW game or any other they have made plans to attend. will they not show up if we are 0- what ever i doubt it. i think it's harder to keep them there than it is to get them there. just an old man and his thoughts.........

Agreed. The Richmond game is the exception. It should be pretty full if the weather is good for homecoming.

Yes. ESPN 3.

So I won't be able to see it because of TWC dumb rule you need TV service for an Internet only channel

Anything ESPN 3 exclusive should be available on watchespn. If it is on ESPN 3 and ESPNU or ESPN 2 or something like that, that is when you run into problems with cable/internet providers if you don't have those channels in your plan. At least that has been my experience with time warner, fios and now comcast here in dc.
