I know there are a lot of jaded and generally unexcited people here, but with the football players reporting to the FOC next Wednesday and Thursday, I'm excited that football is back on the mountain, even though I'm 200 miles away

I haven't been around long enough to be jaded yet so I am seriously excited. I still have hope that this will be a good season. And since in my entire 19 years I have been to exactly 1 football game, getting into 6 games for free is a nice bonus.

As cool as a Jake and BJ thread would have been.... Football season must excite all of us, even if our team has let us down, and we are victims of the hype machine sometimes. Its still gonna be Fall weather, in Williams Stadium, with a good product on the field. Guys strapping up the pads and hitting one another all in the name of Sport, and our great University competing against other Universities. Of course Im ready.

I've had the Norfolk State game circled since the schedule came out because its the closest game to me and I want to see the Flames lay the smackdown on the Spartans. I went to the game in 05 and I am hoping for a better result this time around. but I plan to be following the Flames all year long and make the trip up to Lynchburg for homecoming

Gillville seems to be a great thing to get new students introduced and invested in the team University athletics, I hope that continues. I also enjoyed the overall Stadium experience last year, tailgating at record levels and great video and audio througout the games.

Here is the one thing I think needs improved upon. Halftime entertainment. Its cool if you want to recognize a few people from a good team. But we seem to love bringing out an entire track team, or 30 guys from a team in the 70s. I think we could make this part of the production on Saturdays much better. And Id like to see a cut up of some of Jerry Sr. one liners. Have you been to a game and the home team is down and they play movie clips.... motivational speeches.... We had one of the most motivating men of our generation as a chancelor, Let him pep the fans with, NEVER GIVE UP, or BHAG, or something.

The thing with the "football team from the 70s" is that it was the first team in school history and they thought that was worth recognizing. otherwise I do think entertainment outside of the band could be improved for halftime

As excited as I am for the return of football season... I just can't get excited about Liberty football. I have been burnt so many times on the hype train that I'm going in to this season without any expectations and will be pleasantly surprised if we do better than expected. I've gone from the 1-10 debacle to the infamous KFC-plagued St. Paul's season to Rocco's bridesmaid tour.

With us getting shunned from the Sun Belt, I'm just not as excited this season as I have been in the past.

I am a Texas Tech alumnus. Therefore, I am familiar with disappointment.

However, as a football fan and a Liberty Flames fan, I do not understand how you could not be optimistic.

Last year's team came close to making the post-season and the atmosphere at Williams Stadium is great.

I am from Texas and it is late July. If you aren't getting excited about football and watching your team play, you probably should be cut out and taken to auction.

Getting excited and being optimistic are two very different things. I think every LU fan is excited for football season and attending games. With that said, we've come close to making playoffs for about the past seven seasons. Traditionally all of our teams struggle when we play tough competition, and we really struggle with in-state games. If the optimism level, on this board, is lower than you had hoped or expected, just understand that we've seen and heard the same "hype" for years and it's always lead to disappointment.

If we keep it within 3 touchdowns of UNC the attitude of the board will change. People will be on here declaring a FCS national championship.

JAKE, go find you a #45 jersey somewhere and that way we will represent on both sides of the stadium. might not increase your game day experience but it would brighten mine. hahaha

Thank you for the welcome.

I joined the board a year ago, after we visited Liberty and my son decided this was where he wanted to attend college. We visited again last autumn and attended a game and we really enjoyed it.

I am now going to be investing in Liberty for at least as long as it takes my son to complete his undergraduate degree and, probably, earn a master's degree. Therefore, I decided to finally start posting.

However, I am not sure how much I can add to the thoughtful discussions on this board. I am still trying to wrap my mind around how one could be excitedly pessimistic or excitedly neutral about this coming football season. I am not sure if the cure is Prozac or more fiber.

Sigmo, I spoke with a few people in stadium security, and they are gonna let me in 30 minutes early to go reserve a few seats. Sorry to tell ya. but you may have to find a new spot this season buddy.

R.I you know you are my boy and all but it would be a bad scene and pretty sure neither of us would be allowed back in the stadium. hahahaha you would think after 4 years i wouldn't have to leave my tailgate early to go secure my row. thinking about bringing a roll of caution tape and rope it off after every game. if anyone knows where we sit i just want to let you know the view stinks and all my regular neighbors are loud and cheer a lot. i only sit there so nobody else would have to suffer there. sorta taking one for the team kinda thing. should be in the same spot out back unless things have changed, you need to stop by.

Nothing wrong with that, I'm incredibly loud at games. I've lost my voice repeatedly, cracked the skin on my hands open, had embarrassing pictures of me posted on instagram by people I've never met and my personal favorite made fun of by a pxp guy who was broadcasting our game online.
