Hey, we got good results, we're moving on (yay), but our play for two of the three games was awful. We can't hold the ball. We have so much difficulty getting the ball back in the forward 2/3s of the field, and basically play containment in the back 1/3. That's an improvement? Over what? Playing sloppy-yet-advancing is not a skillful or tactical success, it's typical American soccer.
Group B: Netherlands, Spain, Chile
Group D: Uruguay, Italy, England
These groups were better than ours. The mistake people make in declaring our group the best is assuming the US is one of the top tier teams. We're not. If we're even the third-best team in our own group (which is questionable), those six teams above are all better than the US. They're all better than Ghana (England, eh, maybe). Ghana's getting too much credit, just because we have a hard time beating them.
