Okay, so the #Liberty2SBC stuff still isn't dying down (imagine my surprise here, haha!).

If you want to hear from Liberty's AD Jeff Barber to get his take, y'all need to take to Twitter and encourage him. I don't know what his schedule is for this week, but I imagine that if he's available and enough of you tweet at him, we might be able to pull this off.

I'm fairly certain Chris lang covered everything related to this topic when he got the info from Jerry Jr a while back..... Liberty is going to the AAC anyways!!! SBC's poorness and lack of visions is about to drive them into nonexistence after this case in Oakland and Kessler play out......

Mohajir slipped in all his concerns, here's what I heard. Our athletic budget doubles his. He doesn't think there's enough "honorable" young athletes to field competitive teams. JFJR, son of JFSR and JFSR's grandson hangout together. We are dieing to get in, He would consider hiring TG if we don't get in. We make 214 million per year in Online classes .....and money talks.

For an athletic director at a Division 1 school Mohajir hasn't exactly mastered the art of "coach speak", that was a little to decipher what he REALLY meant. But he sounds like he was on our side for the most part and those concerns would go away if we "sweeten the deal"

If money talks and sweetening the deal is all it takes to get in..... Why don't we make a huge publicity stunt by spending more money than anyone else ever has in the NCAA. Go to a bigger better conference !!! I'm not sure of what the most ever paid was but let's just say it's double what we offered!!! Wouldn't we make most of that back in 5 years or less? Just the publicity stunt and coverage it could bring would probably make us back 1/5 of the money instantly. Tons of poor people out their bite'n the finger nails because they don't have any clue where this cost of attendance money will come from!!! Just say'n

You can't buy your way into the "bigger and better" conferences, and I'm not so sure that will even work in the SBC. What we have to overcome is mostly the bias and misconceptions of the university presidents and ADs. At least to some extent, there is as much fear concerning our current financial status as there is greed to get a piece of it.

Seriously though, look at the SBC. We shouldn't have to beg to be a member. I've been on record as saying we have a lot still to do at the FCS level, but it's not like Sun Belt is THAT much better. And please not the "it's better than the Big South comments." We get it.

I think the fact we have the potential to be good very quick in the Sun Belt is one of the reasons some of the schools don't want Liberty.

And before any of you start again wih the "we haven't won in FCS, so we won't in FBS" crap, there's no correlation. And our resources and facilities are such that it wouldn't surprise me if presidents don't want their coaches seeing them and asking for upgrades of their own.

As much as I love and promote CFB, we all need to take a step back and remember that any conference move is not centered around JUST football.

There are a myriad of reasons why a school would change conferences. Both the potential new conference member, the conference itself and the current member schools have to see the value of adding that potential member. Not just from a financial standpoint, but a visibility, marketing, fan base/TV Market and academic standpoint.

This will be something that I bring up (we're going to actually spend *very* little time on actual SBC invitation rumors) with Jeff Barber.

By the way, I can now CONFIRM that Jeff will be on Two Cents Radio on our July 9th show for about 30 minutes.

Pen it into your calendars. :)

This is very true. One part of the conference equation that has been under represented in the discussion is the footprint of the alumni base and the general student population recruiting footprint. For Liberty, the Sunbelt is desirable, in part, because it puts the school in front of the highest % of alumni & squarely in prime general student recruiting areas. From a conference standpoint this also creates value by creating a greater interest in and draw for Liberty away games.

Thanks for having Jeff on Doug. Loved to hear him fired up after hearing Terry's comments. Did anyone else find in interesting that he mentioned Jerry Jr, Trey, and Dr. Godwin, but no mention of Jeff? Jeff clearly said he was in the meeting too. Anyway, Jeff made great points on the recruiting "concern" even though I think that excuse is simply a smokescreen.
