With Spring practice in the books, I figured why not go ahead and get this ball rolling...

We're probably going to get destroyed in this game but I am REALLY excited for this. Only a two hour drive from LU so now the only thing is getting tickets. If by some miracle we do win this this it would probably be the new App St-Michigan and I will have no voice for at least a week.

if we did pull off the upset I dont think it will reach the magnitude of App-State Michigan. the Wolverines were I believe top 5 headed into that game and became the first team in history to go from top 5 to unranked the next week. The Wolverines would go on to finish 8-4 and win their bowl game that year. It will be a big win but not going to have the kind of reverberations that App State's win had that year

What did they do in spring ball to get that high? I know they beat Cincy in the Belk Bowl but other than that who did they beat? They lost to every other good team on their schedule. Their best regular season win last year was @ Pitt. 17 is way to high just based off of last year.

I think a lot of their preseason ranking has to do with them winning 6 of their past 7 games and returning most of their starters.

Carolina brings starters back but has some major question marks, especially on the D-line and at QB and RB. Marquise Williams ended the year as the starter but freshman Mitch Kubisky is pushing him hard. Kubisky is probably the better quarterback, though Williams is clearly the best scrambler in the conference. UNC will be the trendy pick to win the Coastal in a lot of publications (including the one I freelance for), but that has as much to do with the weakness of the division as anything. Not sure if they're Top 25 material or not. That might be premature.

It is Mitch Trubisky. And Carolina is probably as loaded as any team in the ACC at running back. Outside of that, you got most of the rest of that correct.

The NCAA should have hammered UNC, including a 5 year bowl ban.

The key to LU pulling an upset in Chapel Hill will be the Flames' defense. In all previous games against the "Big Boys", LU has played well, probably better than anyone expected. I hope we can beat the Tar Heels.

I'm going to guess you're a State fan or a dook fan. Either way, you have no idea what you're talking about. I love both schools.... but I watched a lot of athletes take some pie classes at LU when I was there. I certainly know more about the Carolina "scandal" than you do, and at the end of the day, Carolina did what every school (yes, LU) has done since the beginning of time. They steered athletes into easy classes. What a shocker!! I'm stunned.

Please. No more comments about things you know nothing about.

I don't pretend to know anything beyond what has been reported publicly, but to dismiss the allegations/admissions of the UNC Academic scandal under those terms requires just the type of color-tinted glasses that you accuse your rivals of using to observe the facts.

Just the things UNC has ADMITTED to go way beyond simply "steering athletes into easy classes". As far as LU is concerned, I'm sure we have had some players over the years who stayed eligible doing as little as possible. We also will have at least 7 players I know of on our football team this Fall who will be graduate students.

As I said PH, and this will be my last comment on the matter, it is one thing to steer players to easy classes/majors to insure their eligibility. It is a whole different matter to make up classes (that when you review the academic catalog) do not exist AT ALL. At least with the easy classes, (like the sport classes in the Kinesiology department) other students can take them and reap the benefits toward their elective hours (or their Kinesiology degree if youre pursuing that degree and entering into the education field). If the university was essentially making up classes that, with even a decent investigation, did not actually take place, the firestorm against the school would be monumental.

So youre saying that the university (with Sr's knowledge or direct order) invented classes that in reality did not exist just so athletes could BS their way to a BS degree or something in order to be eligible for whatever sport they were participating in?
