If we could only win one, then its UNC. But since that really isn't realistic, then its Richmond. If they drop homecoming in front of Jerry Jr. and 20,000+ to Coach Rocco, it will not be a good offseason.

An "ok" FCS team beating a "mediocre" FBS team would "stun the football world"???

App State in my book.

If we beat say...LSU, now THAT would stun the football world. If we beat Notre Dame, THAT would stun the football world. If we beat alabama24's beloved Tide, THAT would stun the football world...beating North Carolina? not so much.

Beating UNC wouldn't stun the football world, but it's a step in the right direction and that's good enough for me.

Talk of beating FBS powerhouses and shocking the world...I say we start by beating a CAA team on our home field. When's the last time we did that?

I think you gotta go back to before there officially was a CAA football offering so in a technical sense...never I believe

TH- No

As to Manson's question, we beat Hofstra in 2003 but that was under a different conference name and Hofstra does not sponsor football anymore. As to a current CAA member (save Elon who was in the SoCon at the time we beat them), you have to hop in the WABAC and go all the way back to 1993 when we beat Villanova with Coach Rutigliano roaming the sidelines

So the last time the Flames beat a CAA team I wasn't even born yet(feel old?). Hopefully law of averages kicks in and we run Rocco and the Spiders off the field.

This. We've been close many times. Time to show other FCS conferences we belong in the top tier and dominate where we are.

App State. Pray App State beats Michigan and then go to Boone and beat them. I'm thinking if you beat UNC and App State the playoffs might be in reach if you can take care of the Little South.

Of course, the playoffs are guaranteed if we take care of the Little South no matter what happens against App State and UNC.

Beating UNC would garner the Liberty brand wider and longer lasting national attention on TV, radio, internet, and at the water coolers of work places on Monday morning. It would be viewed rightfully and nationally as a bigger and better win. Of course we'd need UNC to go on and have a productive year and make a bowl game. Otherwise, by the end of the season we'd have beaten a terrible FBS program. But I don't think that will be the case for UNC.

And if Liberty is good enough to handle UNC, than it is more than good enough to handle any other team on our schedule.

Two things:

1) I think, if we win that game, itll maybe get us a highlight on College Football Scoreboard and maybe on ESPNews but I dont think its gonna make a huge ripple nationally. it'll get us some cachet but that actually depends on...
2) the "WTF game" Pretty much every year since 2008 we have had a loss that makes everyone on this board scratch their heads...or pull out their hair.

Its good to get reassurance that JB is trying to move away from DII games. Chris also makes a good point that the home opener will draw a crowd no matter who it is, much better than ending the season with Brevard last year. I miss playing Stony Brook.

The Bryant game is during the first CFAW of the year, so a lot of overly enthusiastic high school kids will be in the crowd along with the crowd that's there for the Hall of Fame inductions. Even if the Bulldogs suck, which they clearly do, it will be a good crowd.
