FWIW, this opponent doesn't think that you are a 'diploma mill'. Academically, where in the heck do any of the current Sun Belt members have room to criticize any other school on the academic side of things? G-W recently was ranked as the #1 online MBA program in the country, does that make it possible for anyone driving through Boiling Springs to just roll down their window and have a degree thrown into their car? Hardly not.

If y'all had everyone on your campus facing Mecca and bowing three or four times a day, I guarantee you the Sun Belt wouldn't have said no.

Just my .02, sorry it didn't work out for y'all, but glad to be competing against you for awhile longer.

Well everything else Doc said he wanted Liberty to become has happened so I don't think the Big South is it.

You are the King of taking statements to the press at face value.
I dont have all the reliable inside sources that you do.

It never came up as a "negative," but it came up...

It's hard not to post when still reading this (don't read it, not possible  ) but you guys are really, forgive me here, stupid if you think our online offering hurt us. On message boards yes because people are idiots. In the eyes of presidents who know our accreditation and why we offer like we do, no. Just an FYI and you can choose to believe this or not but most of the SBC Presidents actually wanted to know more about the model we use.

The only academic side "issue" that may or may not have hurt here is the fact that we are teaching only and not research. Will that change in the near future, I think so but who knows.

Football is the first step. If we exhaust all of our options with FBS conferences, we will sue for independence. No doubt. Once we get football up to FBS, the rest of the sports will be fine, whether they are in the Big South or another conference.

This is true... and most schools are interested in the model. Just five years ago, folks in the UVa community would talk down about online ed, with one of the big complaints being class size and having too many students for a professor to manage. Of course, now with their 70,000 per class MOOC experience, minds are changing. Times are changing and many academics see LU as being on the leading edge of a model of higher ed that will keep schools open and lead to more manageable budgets.

Suing to be FBS Independent would be stupid on so many levels

No offense to you blue jacket, as I have no personal problem with you and I'm sure you're a nice guy.

However, can we please have small "new member" message sent out that reads, "Don't ever mention us suing to go independent, it won't ever happen."

You joking right!!! Haha?? Cause that's impossible/semi.... hence the whole reason we are breaking ankles to get into any FBS conference on the planet...

Boise State not happy with P-5

http://www.idahostatesman.com/2014/05/2 ... p=/99/104/
This naming and the $12.5 million that comes with it is more critical at this time of our history than any time before given the NCAA reforms that are about to be implemented,” Kustra said. “Now we’re fighting those reforms, and the Mountain West is fighting those reforms, because we think they’re excessive. We think we treat our student-athletes well. But when you look at the cost of attendance jumping from its original $2,000 to $3,800 now — then there’s the food addition (unlimited meals) — if you add all that up, that’s millions of dollars for an athletic program. I have no doubt that the Big Ten and the SEC are designing these reforms to try to leave some people behind. This is about leaving the Boise States behind and making sure the Alabamas and the Tennessees and whoever they are can march right along.
