Traditional academia may really care about the specifics of online/resident degree programs but in the job world, there are many other factors that weigh much more heavily. Whether someone attended a University online or as a resident won't likely ever be the deciding factor on whether to make a hiring decision or not.

If a business does base their decisions on that, then they likely aren't hiring the right people to begin with and is probably not a place you would want to work anyways.

Order these any way you wish. I dont think its important to nail it down to the main reason, as I was trying to figure out earlier.

Private Religous Institution entering an all public league.

1) Yes
2) No...I don't give myself points...that's self serving...to whoever started that nonsensical thread btw, if youre gonna give out points, let ATrain have one of mine...
And yet you gave yourself credit for regurgitating what other level head thinkers said on here. Too bad the foe button doesn't work for admins.....

I'd say:

1) religious
2) political

3) LUO

Not familiar with too many diploma mills that require 15+ page research papers multiple times in a semester class. Had my hard drive not crashed a few months ago, I could show you several of these from my time as an LUO student, including some REALLY tough papers for an English class I took. It all depends on what you are taking, and who the prof is.

A very disappointing and shortsighted decision indeed. Whatever the reason, the SBC just made a big mistake. Liberty will eventually end up in FBS and the SBC Members will be very fearful. Not surprised though. They know what Liberty athletics could become in the right circumstances.

In the meantime, it's time to focus on the Big south sprinkler and sun festival, UM I mean baseball tourney and the NCAA regional. Then it's time to load up and take the Big South outright in Football and make the playoffs.

I choose not to see this as an earth shattering failure for LU, but a problem with a system tailored by state funded schools. We will be fine and continue to build.

Don't panic. and by the way, Christ warned us that others wouldn't get us.

I thought my online classes were harder than the classes I took on campus. More busy work in the online classes. But it helped me finish my Master's while working full-time.

Also, state schools do the same thing. I went for two years to a branch campus of Pitt...if I would have graduated from Pitt-Johnstown, my diploma would have still just said, "The University of Pittsburgh", It would not have said, "Pitt-Johnstown".

Furthermore, Pitt accepted 6 credits from my highschool classes. The Highschool down here in Halifax let's people get up to about 40 college credits while in high school...and places like JMU and William and Mary take them, and they graduate in two or three years...half of their credits weren't even earned at the school...but the diploma is the same...and yet these other schools look down on LU-online? Smome & mirrors. Hypocritical at best.

The one thing LU could do is raise the admission standards for online...it may hurt the bottom line, but may help the image of the school. That's one difference...if you make easier admission for online, you devalue the resident degrees.

I don't think winning a couple of playoff games would have made much difference.

I do think if Bruce Greer or whatever the name of our first Law school dean was still here, that may have helped. You can have the right position without taking to twitter and being disrespectful.

I have no idea what Mr. Godwin was thinking with the Benny Hinn thing. It just looks bad...it devalues all of our degrees.

Maybe we can get the Chinese to send us the text of some of the e-mails I'm sure were sent back and forth through this process. Those might be enlightening.

Chris Lang ‏@ChrisLangLNA 7m
Just got off the phone with LU chancellor Jerry Falwell Jr. and athletics director Jeff Barber. Will post full story later when it's done.
Chris Lang ‏@ChrisLangLNA 6m
Will tease this: Falwell said it was a timing issue with the Sun Belt; LU never came up for a vote; he believes door is still open in future

That said on the Sun Belt and LU ... the door is closed for 2014-15. And remember Karl Benson's quotes from that http://AL.com Q&A.

It never came up for a vote because the unofficial straw poll showed L
U didn't have the 9 votes needed. And with one key defection ( thank you Ron Godwin and Benny Hinn) it would have been impossible for the majority to lobby for a super majority.

I don't consider this quote point worthy. He did not say that any of them, including himself, were right. Rather, he said that they have been the "real only levelheaded ones."

Does BJ need a mancrush thread? Probably.

(How in the heck did postman get a nod here?)

Oh, and Liberty athletics. Kind of stinks. That's ok though. The conferences will come and go. Opportunities and roadblocks the same. Jeff Barbers, Turner Gills, even Jerry Juniors - they're all temporary. The mission is forever.

How dare they deny us because of our religious beliefs and political beliefs!!!! Arkansas State and Louisiana Monroe were forced to change their nicknames because they offended native americans, but no one freaked out about it. The Sun Belt schools have been around for a long time so of course they are supposed to be good in athletics, but we have only been around since 1971. While they were celebrating their 43 years of existence they were dreaming they would be good in athletics. In our 43 years of existence we easily past their dreams by a long shot. App State will see on October 11th why the Sun Belt will regret not inviting us!!!!

Much respect to Jerry Jr and Jeff for taking the time to talk to us fans through Chris. They could have left it at the SBC's statement, but it's great that they let us see it from the LU side. Again, I believe the FBS move will happen for LU at some point, but this takes time. Unfortunately most things like this for LU take longer than they do for most schools.

It's not like it was App's fault...

Plus, what have we accomplished in athletics other than spending money compared to the other SB schools?

I would be interested to know who the yea vote we supposedly lost because of the hinn mess was. That is very interesting to me. I thought jerry jr and jb's response was very professional and it seems to be tempered yet truthful. What are we looking at vote wise like 7 and 4 or 6 and 5? Another year could easily sway a vote or 2 if football does what it should in year 3 of gill, basketball improves and the other sports stay hot. It would be nice to avoid any unnecessary controversies like the henn debacle as well. I mean it stinks that it didnt happen but it feels like we have made significant headway in the 2 years since we announced fbs intentions. I also dont see staff bailing like crazy either. I mean barber and toman were hired long before fbs and transition looked like it could possibly happen. Think back to when barber was hired, fbs did not sound like an option for discussion at all in 07. Toman would be crazy to leave for anything short of a high level acc sec job and even then it would be questionable with what hes built and the facility he has now. Gill is really the only wild card there because we dont really know what his expectations were but i have to think that he had to know it might not happen for a while. I think he would have to have a great year to be in discussions for a comparable job to happen anyway. Plus we will likely be doing this whole thing again next year. Its dissappointing but it does feel like progress to me unless jerrys statement was false or he has been mislead by the belt contacts he made
