That's a great get for the Colonials. A lot of athleticism and talent between those 2. They would have looked terrific in red white and blue, but that would have given us 9 freshmen. We're better off this year with Johnson and Andoh.
RMU is red, white and blue as well. Play Basketball A good get for them. In the last 40 years Duquesne has gone from #1 in the city to #3 behind Pitt and now RMU.

Nick Faust, I chortle audibly he would fit in at LU about as well as Aaron Hernandez.

To convince him we would have to have contact, which would only be legal if he initiated it. We can't contact a player at another school unless he has announced he is transferring.

I didn't realize Woods had left the program at VT. He is fair game, but like flamehunter, I'm not so sure he would be a huge upgrade. Actually, VT was set to sign David Andoh to no doubt fill a similar role there before they changed coaches. Woods would not give us the muscle in the post we get from Johnson. He is somewhere in between Smith and Gielo as far as skill vs athleticism is concerned.

Hah! He is majoring in "Residential Property Management" lol. In a former life I had a LOT of dealings with resident managers, and from my observation the job requirements are a willingness to live on the premesis and work for free rent and peanuts. Having a red neck is considered a plus, at least in Virginia.

9 days left in the Spring signing period, and we still have a scholarship to offer. The May 21 deadline is only for HS seniors. JUCO deadline is later, and in any event it's passing would not mean we could not still bring in another HS player, I believe it's just a different procedure. As far as the players we have been pursuing who are still unsigned, things still seem to point to Osandai Vaughn, but of course we've been saying that for months. He has 3 or 4 other D1 offers, and could also opt to return to Cape Fear. Another player who has been on our offer list, 6'9" PF Aleer Leek from IMG Academy, has apparently decided to prep a year. I'm not a big fan of bringing in transfers who have to sit a year, but a solid D1 post with 2 or 3 years of eligibility would sure look good on the roster right about now. Johnson was a good get, but he's a one year fix at best.

Landing former Division I holdovers David Andoh (San Jose State) and James Johnson (San Diego State) was huge for Liberty. Both should have expanded roles early and will get lots of playing time. Both may even start a lot of games, especially in Big South play. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Flames contend with Radford and Coastal Carolina for conference supremacy in 2014-2015. Keep an eye on Longwood as well. The Lancers have a nice blend of transfers coming to Farmville and will give other conference foes fits as well. But for what it's worth, both Liberty and Longwood have a chance to be the two most improved clubs in the Big South next season.

JUCO. Pretty safe bet he did not qualify. If that's not the case, I'm thinking he is still determined to ultimately play at the high major level and figures a good year or 2 in JUCO can get him there. Of course we know all too well the same could be said for a good year or 2 at LU.

Why not. He's not taking up a scholarship. It's highly unlikely he will play other than an occasional cameo at garbage time, but having another guy who can man the point could definitely be an asset in practice.

We have signed Theo Johnson, a 6'6" swing player from Sacramento, CA who is transferring from College of Charleston. Theo will sit a year and then have 2 years of eligibility. His numbers at C of C aren't much except for an impressive 27 blocks in limited PT as a Freshman, which would indicate he is really athletic.

It probably means nothing, but Johnson played HS basketball at the same time and in the same area as David Andoh.

With this signing, all 13 scholarships are accounted for. Any more and we will know the rumors about someone not qualifying are true.

With it looking more and more like we are indeed going to have a scholarship available again, what does DL do? Its not like him to leave a scholarship unused, but this may be the time to do it. The players Layer has signed previously as late replacements have not exactly been world beaters. We're talking Asaad Woods, Jarred Jourdan and Wesley Alcagaire. RMK did a bit better with Bill Weaver, but not much. It's tough to find someone who can really help you this late in the game.
