I think scribe mentioned it in his game story...but basically the way the field is oriented the glare from the sun is almost blinding at a certain point in the day, that point happened to fall in the 8th inning of our game yesterday

It's the result of the former coach being an absolute idiot and making the stadium be build around the existing field foot print without taking into account different game times.

In other words, the sun sets directly in centerfield.

How is this change going to affect our rotation going forward? im guessing Fulghum was going to get the call tonight before the schedule change, and now we may have to play twice in one day

Won't do anything to the rotation. Fulghum tomorrow, Bean fine to go tomorrow should LU lose. Otherwise, Bean goes Friday. Not sure who would pitch the if necessary game if Liberty loses the first game Friday. Lambert in line to come back out Saturday.

Thanks...that if necessary game is a conundrum that hopefully we won't have to address because we already locked in for championship Saturday. I would reckon we would use a combination of Pennington and Evans with Clowers and Marsh again coming on in relief if it came to that. Any word on if Perritt will see the mound this week?

How does a conference pick a host school that has a sun problem and then to make matters worse, they have a "sprinkler malfunction." Hard to make this stuff up. KK is a genius.
This sounds pretty cool. A pitcher has a perfect game through 8, all of a sudden the sun becomes a problem, after a 45 minute delay, the pitcher cannot come out and complete his chance to throw a perfect game. THE WORST PART ABOUT IT IS, THEY KNEW ABOUT THIS POSSIBILITY BEFORE THE TOURNAMENT STARTED. BUSH LEAGUE.

Ballcoach,
True, if you want the best venue and most fans. However, Coastal obviously has a good facility, since they have hosted a regional. It would be great to find a neutral location, but that is probably a bit too over the top for KK.
There is zero excuse for having it at Winthrop based on the possibility of a "sun delay", laughable.

Liberty, VMI, High Point and Radford all could have hosted this year. Campbell's a stretch because of a lack of hotel rooms. Everything is 45 minutes away in Raleigh. There were easily four better options than Winthrop.

So would it be fair to assume that everything is now pushed back a day (with the championship on Sunday)?

By the way...somebody at Winthrop grounds better get canned for this...

Championship now on Sunday at 4, which is freaking stupid considering there's a good chance the sun delay would come into play again that night. All for ESPN3? Come on.

BSC should have used this "off day" to move tournament to Liberty University. Just loaded up buses and headed north to Lynchburg, VA. I bet LU grounds crew could have LU field ready for play in a couple hours or less.

Uhhhhhhhhhh, there's just a LITTLE BIT more than that to hosting a conference tournament.

LOL, so who pulled a Bull Durham on us? Maybe KK should sit up all night and make sure the ballpark is secure. Who knows, someone may decide to put soap on the field tonight. :)
