If you want to talk ASUN smack or ramble ad nauseum about your favorite pro or major college teams, this is the place to let it rip.

That's the fact Jack!

It takes a certain number of schools to propose bringing a school up for membership vote. (I think Two or Three) and then a school is voted on. A school must be voted on officially for records.

I've been told Monday, but I could see it moving to Tuesday if other issues cannot be decided. Obviously there are a ton of decisions made at these meetings since its the only time all the Presidents get together outside the basketball tournament.

Source? Other than the fact that we already knew A State wasn't in our corner

Didn't we always have them in the NO column?

BYD that's where I read it. The AD was interviewed and several tweets came from that interview. Is it me or does AState think they kinda run the conference. I've read several of their posters saying they want out of the SB if another FCS was added. It seems it would make it easier for them to dominate and rack up allot of wins. Anyways, not good news for us. We can be as positive as we want and say it's posturing or just one of 11 votes, but there's nothing positive about that news.

If AState tries to leave the Sun Belt I don't know who would take them. They're way outside the MAC and CUSA's footprints and who knows what the hodgepodge that is the AAC is doing.

We used to have a contest as teens at Kings Dominion. We would eat lots of pizza and drink a giant drink and then rode the King Cobra until all but one had hurled. I always won. Take it all as it comes. We have no control over the vote or whatever. If we are in, then awesome, celebrate! IF not, then life goes on, and the quest for a FCS playoff berth is back on. It might sting for a little, but Liberty will eventually go FBS.

Was this AState AD Mohajir at Kansas when Turner Gill was? Or did he arrive KU after Gills departure? Just wondering?

The bottom line is this... the university is keeping any and all talks with the SBC very tight to the chest and for very obvious reasons. LU doesn't need another PR embarrassment where we come out and point to ourselves a whole bunch only to be turned away again. It's different then how things typically work, but I for one, am happy that LU is keeping quiet on the issue.

All of the rumors and comments circulating may or may not be from reliable sources, but it doesn't matter because it's a fluid situation and what information someone did manage to gather from a reliable source may have since changed. Knowing what I know, I think our chances this year are much higher than they were last year at this time... We shall see in a week or so.

One thing I failed to clarify through the quotes that Mohajir did clarify today was that the question was specifically about UMass.

He said Umass had contacted the SBC...but his opinion was he liked the general look of the conference and that UMass did not address his concerns in all sports. For that reason he is against UMass unless they bring all their sports.

He never actually mentioned Liberty through the interview process.

And yes...if he says no, our chancellor says no. And if we say no, UALR says no.

Actually, administrationally we are the strongest SBC Supporters. We have basically told the MAC no once before, and really talk down CUSA publicly when we et the chance. Ideally we want in the AAC or MWC, but that wont happen. Fans will be fans.

ULL is the one who has pined openly about leaving the SBC.

...Which is why I feel they (AR-LR & UT-Arlington) should not have a vote concerning football.

This is the type of stuff that destroyed the Big East.

The football and basketball factions in the Big East were much more equal in number, and the bball schools had history on their side. Not quite an apples-to-apples comparison. But I see what you mean, and I agree.

Whatever happens this next week, I hope we either go back to the Big South or join the Sun Belt with the biggest chip on our shoulders and just bust up any conference we're in like we're doing right now in baseball.

It will take us a few years to be competitive in football and basketball if we get to the Sun Belt. We should have been dominating every sport in the BS for some time now, based on our facilities and budget. Pretty disappointing that we haven't done better, especially in basketball and football.
