Not sure where you get the "banger" description. He's like 205. More of a greyhound.
It lists him as 6'7 200 lbs. He might be able to bang Manute Bol around!

Apparently that was his weight coming out of HS. The recruiting sites never update that info. The recent article I posted says he is now 220. That will work for a stretch 4.

I'll have more on the recruiting class on the site tomorrow, but here's some quick thoughts:

We are now full unless one of our signees doesn't qualify.

class breakdown:
3 seniors - Gielo, Smith, Johnson
2 juniors - Retic, Andoh
1 sophomore - Alcegaire
7 freshman - Kemrite, Maxwell, Allen, Talbert, Reid, Bonds, Moller

position breakdown:
PG - Retic, Bonds
SG - Kemrite, Moller, Reid, Layer
SF - Gielo, Talbert, Alcegaire
PF - Smith, Andoh, Allen
C - Johnson, Maxwell

Chemistry was a problem last year with a bunch of old faces, and the most successful team we have had in the past decade had 7 Freshmen. I think SJ may be onto something with his "addition by subtraction" mantra. Hope so anyway.

With the three selfish, trigger happy seniors that were the main problem last year gone and the three more team focused juniors that were somewhat of a bright spot now becoming the senior leaders, and one of Layer's better recruiting classes we could be in for a great season or an even bigger disappointment than last year.

I've been quiet since the end of the season (other than calling for Layer's head lol) but I really think this group on paper is a huge talent upgrade from last year. As someone pointed out chemistry will be a factor, and so will youth with so many new freshman being asked to contribute right away. Overall I'm a little more confident about this program as a whole moving forward than I have been at any point during the Layer era. Time will tell.

I like the potential in this group...what Im curious about is with Moller and how quickly he assimilates to the American game. having Tomasz will help to a degree (although they are at different positions) but if he can adjust even a tick faster, he could be a very good player at the 2 for us, and, as I believe olldflame mentioned in another thread, he could potentially start for us as well.

That was me. I was roundly criticized for it.

I think he actually agreed with me. I can't remember who all it was but they were vocal......until my :flamingdevil silenced them

I am sure they were critical, I just don't remember ever seeing that. Especially with how terrible the team chemistry was this past season it would be a tough thing to argue.

It's because your mind is weak and you really believe these are not the droids you are looking for

With 8 of 13 scholarship players being replaced, we in fact will be almost 62% "new". Just a few numbers to compare how the new guys "stack up" with the ones who are leaving.

This group is longer. They average 6' 6 1/2" as opposed to 6' 4 3/8". They are a bit skinnier at 202.5 pounds average as opposed to 207. They are obviously much less experienced with a total of only 5 seasons of combined college and JUCO basketball under their belts as opposed to 30. More subjectively, I think we will see an increase in athleticism. Skill remains to be seen. With Bonds and Retic manning the point, I feel we are in better hands than we have been since Jesse graduated, but at least a couple of this group will need to step up as scoring threats as well.

You can't measure leadership and attitude. Hopefully, we have more of the first and less of the second

I believe our new roster sets up far better than the last 2 years in terms of players having clearly defined roles. I think this will greatly facilitate the emergence of leadership. After last years debacle, it's hard to imagine anyone starting the season with any attitude other than humility.

I most certainly can and have. I'm not saying it will or won't happen. I'm just saying its more probable than you think.
But I agree that this roster ON PAPER is shaping up nicely

That's a great get for the Colonials. A lot of athleticism and talent between those 2. They would have looked terrific in red white and blue, but that would have given us 9 freshmen. We're better off this year with Johnson and Andoh.
