A yearly game with ODU would make for a great rivalry. Who would be ODU's biggest rival from C-USA?

I'm guessing biggest regional rival would be Charlotte.

I like roller coasters. An annual game with ODU(home and home) would make for a great rivalry. I hope, I get this posted before we hear from someone that Liberty will not be invited to the SB.

Are you guys nuts? Talking about the SBC dying and coming up with a back up plan before we are invited? We should be very grateful if we get invited and go all in enthusiastically.
Not that it makes a big difference to the decision makers, but please be careful what you say here and in the SBC boards. Some of the comments made there are embarrassing. Use your spelling and grammar check too. You want others to think, you graduated from more than a bad public high skewl.

We will do no such thing. If we get into the Sun Belt, we will be thanking Jesus for getting us there. We will be thrilled to establish ties in heavily Evangelical communities along the Gulf Coast. For the growth of the school, there is no better G5 league for us right now than the Sun Belt. None.

That's exactly right. Which is good, because there is no other visible option. Get to the Sun Belt and be very thankful.

Just spoke with my source at jmu, the board meeting tomorrow has an athletic portion but there is zero plans to discuss realignment. Their plan is to remain caa until MAC invite. What that means for us is unknown.

I don't think I ever said we need to bolt the Sun Belt. However, why not set up a rivalry with ODU? Just several home and homes. That isn't a big deal right? Why not befriend other FBS institutions that are in the C-USA and AAC? Are we really stupid enough to think that once we're in the Sun Belt, we're golden?

I like the idea of Liberty in the Sun Belt, I'm not in love with it, but if it means that we'll be FBS - I'm all for it. But if any of you are advocating that we shouldn't at least ensure we have options, just in case something happens, than I think that is ridiculous. Additionally, if that is the mindset of a majority in the athletics office, I hope we don't get a FBS invite. I hate the Big South, but I don't ever want us to be an independent, even if we were FBS.

If you don't believe that the Sun Belt isn't vulnerable, you're delusional. I believe by next year, seven of the current Sun Belt football members will have only been three years or less removed from FCS football. In addition to that, they've picked up Idaho and New Mexico State. Every time the C-USA and MWC get raided, they dip into the Sun Belt. Every time the Sun Belt gets raided they have to dip into FCS. Imagine if 6 to 8 Sun Belt members left next year to join the MWC or C-USA. Who would the Sun Belt add as replacements? The only reason we are even being discussed as an option now, is because we are the only option.

I'm NOT saying we should bolt for the C-USA. That would be dumb. But why on earth would we avoid a home and home with C-USA and/or AAC schools. Why wouldn't we befriend an ODU?

Ive thought all along that most posters on here have grossly overstated jmus concern for us. They will make a decision based on whats best for their school not us. They dont view us as rivals and this proves it, nor should they. Secondly, the big south is way more unstable than the sunbelt. Third, odus ad basically said we would play often if we reached fbs.

VMI is eligible for titles (hypothetically...since they haven't won a regular season or tournament title in 11 years in the league, the Big South probably didn't even consider that they might win one this year) even though the league knows they are leaving, so I don't see why Liberty would be different.

How do we know #2 to be true? I heard those rumors 1 year ago.

That is the first I have heard of Sun Belt presidents being on our campus. That can only help our chances.
