He could have used a little more defense behind him. Lacik may have caught that hr ball and
britt wasn't quite sure where to throw it. Also had a couple of plays in the infield that went as base hits that should have been made. Just makes your pitchers throw more pitches to get out of innings and against a good team that gets tuff sometimes.

Toman called him back after the first bad swing and it got worse from there. I still think we need britt in the 2 hole. Allen killed 2 rallies and left seiz on deck twice. Id also change close and sankey in thr lineup.

He should not sit for a bad game. Toman has his boys that he never sits not matter what they do. They have all had bad games and looked awful at the plate. He has guys on the bench that had a bad day at the plate and have never played another game. He should have sheps back just like he does some of the others.

We did not hit last night, except for the 2 home runs the bats were silent. i wonder what Toman told the hitter in last at bat ? Whatever it eas did not work. He may have gotton on him for swinging at a first pitch in the dirt, when the proper thing to do was "take all the way" on first pitch.

Their starter threw a lot of junk last night and kept the hitters off balance. He had a 7+ ERA and looked hittable but we never made solid contact. He threw 90% first pitch curve balls and we took 90% of the time. Started making adjustments third time through the lineup.

Yacyk made a great play on the first batter but ball popped out of his glove as he was crashing into the fence. That play set the tone. It was a huge break for VT. Lyons had a hard time punching out the lefthanded hitters in their lineup - that's how they won and their 3 hole hitter pounding the ball added insult to injury.

Zagunis, that three-hole hitter, has been pounding the cover off the ball in the last five weeks. He's dangerous. Hit the walk-off homer against Florida State in the ACC tourney last year. Pat Mason, Tech's coach, said Scheetz threw first-pitch strikes to 11 of 15 batters, something Seiz noted when asked why the hitters had a tough time adjusting. He was working from ahead nearly the entire night. Toman admitted you lose something defensively by putting Yacyk out there, but he in theory more than made up for it with the two-run homer, and Toman wants to get Yacyk hacks against lefties. Lyons started working more with his offspeed stuff in the later innings and looked like he rediscovered what was working early in the year, so that's a positive going forward. Tech has been playing better of late than its record indicates, kind of like Richmond.

Junior. Splits time between catcher and the outfield. Not hitting with as much power this year. Slugging has dropped significantly. Had nine homers last year, one this year.
