The NCAA is clearly doing nothing to stop unionization of players and I believe the SEC would probably suffer the most right?? What if the SEC was being proactive by adding a private school so they created a loop hole to force exemption from any player unionization!?!?! Just a possible theory
That's above even my level of crazy. I would be totally on board if this were feasible but there's no way

Unless Ark State comes disguised as another school from the MAC, JMU is not listening. They have their minds made up, IMHO. They want to be associated with higher-academia schools and the Sun Belt does not fit their (JMU's) requirements...

Or maybe, just maybe the flight to JMU was to see if the Dukes want to join Ark State in the MAC as a package deal.

That MAC package deal option sounds interesting but I don't know if the MAC is looking to expand, unless they've kept it completely under-wraps because I haven't heard anything about them looking to expand. And if they are expanding I don't think those 2 would be their first choice

According to the A State moderator on belt board that is their plane. He did concede it sometimes flies unrelated flights. What are the odds of an unrelated non athletic flight from there to Harrisonburg ever? Pretty slim.

Interesting article I didn't think the MAC was interested in expanding but UD would be an amazing fit and JMU gives them an already established rivalry. I personally think Towson, other than their Title IX problems, would be better for the MAC long term but JMU helps us more.

From the article:
And about the Sun Belt. Someone tweeted me the other day to confirm a report that the Sun Belt had invited JMU. This, I'm told, is untrue. When I asked someone who would know, they said, "That's funny." From what I've heard, the Sun Belt is JMU's last resort - and the Sun Belt apparently knows this and doesn't like it.

Which is translated as all the presidents who would do anything short of collusion or mass suicide to keep liberty out

Not until the official announcement, we can wildly speculate until then. More accurately celebrate and plan the impending demise of the Big South until one LU hater on the Sun Belt boards tries to stir the pot and says it isn't happening. Then Coastal will be headed to the CAA leaving us behind while they laugh hysterically and Toman, Richardson, Gill, and JB will all leave for higher profile jobs and will be stuck in a bottom 3 D1 conference forever.

Right there, this is exactly what I see happening, especially Gill. He didn't come here to coach FCS, he came here to coach a transitional program heading to FBS. The second that doesn't happen he will be headin right back up. LU is a great school but if we don't get the chance to jump we won't be able to compete with any head coaching job in FBS and that is simply a fact.

It was a wild ride there for awhile with speculation from yours truly, LUconn. I miss those crazy days. Now all we can do is nervously await our fate.

For Gill to leave, that would require an offer from another school.

And as much as I like him he needs some more on the field success before that happens. But who knows if this works out he could end up being like Mark Few at Gonzaga because he likes us so much and doesn't want to leave a program he built almost from the ground up helped bring to national prominence(fixed, sort of). That was the delusional optimism kicking in again.
