Great, now LU athletics is basically a sinking ship if we don't get in? haha. Will this hurt in the short term, yes. But I believe firmly that realignment is not done with the 12th SBC member. So until all the shaking is done (if it ever is since money talks), we are NOT done! Some folks will likely leave, and that will not be good, but again it would be a short term issue.

I hope we do get the nod now, and I do still believe we have a great shot. I hope JMU shoots themselves in the foot, and I'm betting they will. I do hope the SBC makes a move this year, as I just can't take this dragging on. haha. But if we do not, we will keep on trucking, we will finally make an FCS playoffs, and then wait our turn in the churn.

Boosters made a call to JMU President not happy
Faculty was happy when they were going to pass on the SBC
The President understands how much it's gonna cost to send the Softball team to Louisiana, and isn't sure the resources are there.

A majority of schools would take us in SBC but not a Super Majority with JMU on the table. A month ago we were golden and the Ivory Tower types were pleased in Harrisonburg. But in this case money may talk and book smarts may walk.

JMU's president not being sure they'll have the money for Olympic sports teams traveling expenses scares me because these desperate boosters could offer to give more money or the Sun Belt could pull a B1G and offer to subsidize travel expenses for non-revenue teams. And if they both want this to happen that bad either one of those are a possibility.

I agree that JMU's president is trying to get more money from boosters. However, as far as the Sun Belt giving JMU a "travel" subsidy is concerned, I seriously doubt that. The Sun Belt's TV contract is not that good to be helping "needy" hands.

I guess this may explain why JMU does not want to go all-in with the Sun Belt and could only be seeking football-only membership. From what I've read, that may not even be on the table. Who knows at this point?

This is almost harder than trying to follow realignment when it was at it's peak, after the "Catholic 7" announced they were all leaving the Big East, I don't have a clue what's going on with LU, JMU Mo St and the Sun Belt anymore. This week has been a roller coaster ride of emotions with this whole FBS mess.

That's why I think the faculty might vote no confidence in the president if he goes through with this, they don't have the money to travel for road games and he knows it. If he does this anyway he could bankrupt the athletic department

I don't see it. Adding two teams makes sense, since Idaho is not likely long term. However, I don't see any benefit to adding three teams, unless of course they are planning on losing a current member. Who knows though? Monday, we all thought we were a lock. Yesterday, everyone thought JMU was a lock.

Just spoke with my source at jmu, the board meeting tomorrow has an athletic portion but there is zero plans to discuss realignment. Their plan is to remain caa until MAC invite. What that means for us is unknown.
