but then maybe Presby has a chance at breaking .500 in any given sport

theoretical conf lineup in 3 yrs:

Campbell
Coastal
CSU
Gardner Webb
High Point
Longwood
Presby
Radford
UNCA

wow
The Big South might be one of the worst D1 conferences in the country with that lineup Coastal would win everything every year. Baseball would be the only remotely competitive sport. They wouldn't even have enough football playing members with that, with Monmouth they only have 5 and a league needs 6 members that play that sport to sponsor it.

I will get excited when I see the following on ESPN's news tracker...

'BREAKING NEWS: Liberty to the Sun Belt in 2015...'

That would really make my day!

Agreed, there were announcements like these last year, they ended up not being true. I'm skeptical but getting excited about a bit. I hope we announce soon so we can pop the champaign.

Oh ok I forgot about them joining as football only but I still think if Winthrop leaves Coastal is going to want out ASAP and the Big South probably implodes.

I think the Big South would be ok if they can get schools like Mercer, N.Alabama and/or West Georgia to join and quickly make the transition from D2.

As far as Kennesaw State is concerned, I expect them to get a all-sports invite from the Big South if Liberty leaves....
They could either have a positive effect like ODU or they could be another Georgia State. You never know with start-ups.

The worst case scenario is that the Big South folds, but i would expect a merger of some sort with the Atlantic Sun before that happens.

Mercer has been DI and joining the socon this July.
Kennesaw state finally has started to get its act together athletically. Nice facilities good baseball and what I believe to be a decent football addition. Basketball is suffering from sanctions imposed a few years ago before the current AD got there.
Coastal wants socon. Socon doesn't want coastal.
I think the west ga and north alabama's of the south east will make the jump.

I don't like quelling some of the craziness I have seen here, but there is a post from a ULL athletics official on the SBC board saying Liberty is NOT Coming.

Of course, he could be wrong. One never knows.

A poster on the Sunbelt board is saying this isn't happening. Respectable poster that broke some of the alignment news last year. It's in the scheduling thread. He stated people are going to be surprised and you don't have to worry about the Liberty schedule because it's not happening. I think he's affiliated with a message board perhaps.

Correct me if I'm wrong Purple, but I believe it will be a private televised meeting announcement announcement.

I'm sorry but anything I hear from some guy on a message board (including this one) isn't going to convince me, the legit reporters on twitter however, I'll listen to.

Who knows? I hope we get the call, we're willing, able, and committed.
I hope and think he is wrong!!!! So far it is 7 positive, reliable, and trustworthy sources that Liberty is in compared to 1 not positive, not Liberty reliable, and not Liberty trustworthy source!!!!This maybe a source that does not like Liberty.
