I hate to tell you this...but if you guys are announced officially, I'll probably lock the thread and start a new one. The original purpose of that 215 (now) page monstrosity is to discuss Liberty University and whether or not they will be effective members of the SBC.

Once you become a member, the rules change. We are very strict about bashing member schools academics...and their politics. I think the discussion for now is that we'll try and shift the Political religious talk to the General Discussion board...and try to force current membership to go along with it.

Or...I'll just go on an unscheduled vacation and let the other mods handle it.

I'll go ahead and mention that I cannot confirm the original post the Sun Sentinel reporter, however I did hear last week the plan was to give JMU a take it or leave it offer. If they said anything other than yes, you guys would get an invite. I heard a couple days ago that TV negotiations had begun, so I am assuming JMU said no...but I am not saying that publically because I want to savor a potential JMU fan riot and not create it.

I wasn't thrilled with the move to the SunBelt when the news broke and still not excited. This basically ends any chance I'll have at commuting to a road conference game. Thankful for the LFN and hope it continues to be allowed broadcast rights.

Timing question. I'm not sure how this would affect the timing of an announcement if this proves true, but how does an announcement affect our ability to win the BSC baseball championship and thus secure a regional trip?

One odd thing about the SBC is we use things like "we" and "our" to talk about the league itself. We sort of see ourselves as all working together for the same goal of gaining national exposure.

You'll see a few who bash the league...usually on individual team sites, but its a brotherhood type thing. Primarily because we're all fighting the same battles ultimately.

If the Winthrop to the CAA rumor has any truth to it at all The Chickens probably aren't far behind. They aren't FBS ready but they'll compete in the CAA almost immediately (I'd put them at second or third right now behind Towson and UD)

Interesting if true (I'm not really in the loop to know if it is true or not unless someone puts it on my board).

I've said before, that it honestly doesn't matter much to me what league WU is in...unless there's a major difference in TV money, I feel like Winthrop can get to the same heights in just about any league that WU can realistically get in at this point.

But if WU got into the CAA (and CCU doesn't) when Coastal has been clamoring to join them for years, that would make me smile a little.
