Anyway back to baseball...this team is white hot right now. the pitching is dominant the offense, led by Seiz is getting it done (especially with two outs) and these guys are winning the games that matter (and shutting up weirdos like trottalot). I really think that we could be looking at a special group this year.

You don't need Twitter for that, you have FlameFans.

We'd be the longest of shots to get there Jake, but itll depend on how we drew in the regional round and Super Regional...certainly is possible but as I said at the beginning, we would be a longshot

I love how BJ insists on bringing up the posters that never post here.

Warren Nolan has us at #18 in RPI this week. HPU #42 and Campbell #87.

Coaches poll has us at #39.

Think of it this way postie...you know how we often talk about the positive effects of winning in regard to other sports? The success of the baseball team is like sunlight to a vampire. As long as we keep winning, he stays away. If we were say...11-24 and lost to VMI on Sunday, then he would be right here talking about how terrible Toman is and blaming him for the loss (Im surprised he didnt come around after the Maryland game last week) just like he did during our early season struggles.

For the record, here is his last comment, dated February 23 (after the loss to UNCW I think):
Trottalot wrote:Well trott, how about giving credit when we win...I have a lot more respect for Jon, who pulled back his criticism of the move to switch Seiz out due to injury, not questionable game managing, and is willing to give credit for a win as much as criticism for a loss...unlike you

Just for you BJ...Congratulations to the Liberty boys for winning two games.....Congratulations to Toman for losing two games. :D Not looking good for the Flames this year, still got a lot of ball to play.[/quote]

Our record after that game was 3-5. Since that loss, our record is 25-2. Im not going to give him the credit of being the reason why our fortunes changed so significantly, but I will say that with our success, people like him have little reason to come around because there isnt something negative to bolster whatever "talking points" they may have.

It brings me joy...when you have somebody who makes it their singular mission to be negative, its fun to keep making it clear how one sided their mindset is and not getting fed with what drives them to continue whatever diatribe they live on through their participation on the board

With an rpi below 20 (if we are still there at the end of the year). We are probably looking at a 2 seed! A 2 seed getting to Omaha would hardly be a long shot - only in our name but far from team and talent wise. We are setting ourselves up very nicely right now. Urgency for every game is very important, and Toman had always been big on that. Pretty exciting year guys....

itll really depend on who else is in that 1-2 group if that is where we end up. Virginia (who we play graduation weekend)) probably is in line for a #1 seed and the #1 overall seed. South Carolina (who we played last year) and Florida State also probably get on that 1 line as well.

Omaha?

That is the thing I like about this board. We never let a little bit of success go to our head or set our expectations too high.

Even in the short amount of time I've been posting here, should you expect anything less from me?

Those aren't expectations right now but just making the realization that it is attainable and not ridiculous to think about. We were 4 wins away last year and have a better team now that is lining up for a 2 seed.

A 2 seed is very much still alive for us. You do realize we were 3 wins from omaha last year right? This is not mens basketball were talking about here

4 wins jinxy...two against South Carolina and two against whoever we would have faced in the super regional (which would have been North Carolina last year)

No one hopes any more than I, that we get to Omaha. In fact, if we do, I will be there. However, we are talking about LU. We are the best school in the country from grabbing defeat from the jaws of victory, we have many, many examples. (Everyone here can think of at least 2 football games last year). Until we can overcome these unfortunate shortcomings, I am not going to let myself get too excited. If Rush Limbaugh is the Mayor of Realville, I am the head of the City Council.

The baseball team hasn't done enough to prove they aren't choke artists like the football team has proven to be yet? They have proven it to me but I am an eternal optimist sometimes bordering on delusion when it comes to my teams so they convinced me with 60 straight shutouts in conference play and the offensive explosion that has come with that.

If being a Terps, Orioles and Ravens fan my whole life hasn't made me cynical yet I don't think anything ever will.
