I am not sure what to think of this...I feel like there must be a lot more to the story then what is being reported. Just wanted to see if anyone else had thoughts or opinions. I do remember when I was at LU (a long, long time ago) the Liberty Way said that my hair couldn't be "counter cultural" but I'm not sure a short haircut on a girl is that. The administrator did say that the problem goes far beyond the hair and that this was disruptive to the classroom environment.

This is the type of thing that could get out of hand and go national.

Like you said, according to TCS there is much more to the issue than is being presented. The story is very one-sided (by default, since TCS didn't participate), but as much as these grandparents are trying to be loving and victimized, their performance in this whole thing is just pathetic. I'm not trying to be mean using the word 'pathetic', I just can't think of another word to use.

Why bring this to the TV station except to try and embarrass the school? This story is one giant appeal to emotions.

It's a tiny, private Christian school with the elementary school principal handling the whole thing. Without outside help they don't stand much of a chance. They really should seek advice from the broader private school community, as they all have a stake in how this shakes out (eventually).

This girls apparently has several issues that any parent should be concerned about.
The big one IMO is that she kept using the boys bathroom and would throw tantrums when she either wasn't allowed or she was caught. The Grandparents were notified several times and asked to help stop that behavior. They refused. I'm not a parent but I would certainly want action taken if a child kept doing that while my child of opposite gender was using the bathroom. I'm sure it was difficult enough to potty train them!
Obviously, this girl is crying out for help and attention. What happened to the girls parents that necessitated her Grandparents to adopt her? What caused her GP's to send her to TCS in the first place? Lots of parents send kids to Christian schools because of behavior problems in hopes the school will fix them.

But surely we can't expect a parent or guardian to excert any type of influence on their child.

I know that I don't have kids so maybe my expectations are too high!
