If we were going to be shopping for a coach this year, we would have likely made a move by now to create an opening. March Madness doubles as energy that turns the coaching carousel. Coaches are auditioning for their next gig by making runs while the compact nature of the tournaments make it easy to interview candidates. All indications that I have heard suggest that no move is occurring this offseason despite clear frustration with the results.

Jon's right...have they won conference titles? No, but he has them in the upper tier of Big South basketball programs and considering what he has to work with there, given greater facilities and resources, Im sure he could do some damage on the mountain.

C'mon LBL. By YOUR standard of the ratio of support:wins, Barclay is a home run of a head coach. Ever been to CSU? Their campus is a glorified trailer park, their gym barely rivals most high schools, and their budget and salaries are dead last in the Big South. Yet every year lately it seems, Barclay has them at or near the top of the league and in contention.

Your consistent song and dance regarding Dale Layer and Jeff Barber has been the relative lack of output given the enormous resources at their disposal.

Barclay is a very good coach...by YOUR standard.

Radebaugh just completed his 9th year in the Big South, here are his finishes.

6th, 8th, 8th, 8th, 7th, T-5, 3rd, 1st(south), 5th(south)

Not exactly toward the top every year....he's 120-152 in 9 seasons. 1 tournament finals appearance.

Someone should do a thread on all big south coaches records finishes, etc. BUT only D 1 games, don't count those D 2 records like Layer, Radebaugh, Baucom has...

Obviously Ellis has most wins.... Can you believe that yesterday's win was Cliff Ellis first EVER conference tournament championship in his career.. Wikipedia is where u can find most all information.

Poor Eddie B didn't make a wise choice going there I guess.....

Jeff Capel is available too, I wonder if Appy will give Buzz a third try as HC.
Eddie has been named interum HC. I wonder if this job is attractive enough to bring him out of semi-retirement. Apparently the location is right.

How about mike dantoni if the lakers fire him? I'm sure we'd have the money to bring him if he was open to coming here. Idk what his faith is like but if he fits our culture he might be a great pickup for us. Imagine how entertaining we'd be in his offense at least the vines center would be a lot more full. Proly just a pipe dream but that would be awesome if it actually happened.

If he wanted it and fit the school's culture, I would totally be on board with that, Gielo, Retic and Smith would be amazing in his offense

Well dantoni will proly be fired kobe doesn't want him next year n he has a ton of say to the lakers management. N who knows if layer will get fired? It'll be interesting though to see how the unproven players like kemrite alcegaire and the freshmen do next year. I still can't believe we were so bad Marshall n sanders really regressed sadly.

BuryYourDuke wrote:Definitely agree that the Lakers will have a new coach. Also agree that Marshall and Sanders regressed. I am afraid that we have put too much hope in kemrite. Layer was fighting for his job, if Ryan could have helped this team I believe he would have been playing. I could be wrong though.

Hopefully Buzz takes Dale to Blacksburg with him. That sort of move worked out well for Ritchie. Speaking of which, maybe McKay is ready to be where God wants him to be after this season? :I chortle audibly.:
You are wrong on this one. By the time we were far enough along to see that Sanders and Marshall were not getting their act together it was way too late to ask Kemrite to give up that redshirt year, even if he was the best player on the team in practice. I don't think Layer was feeling that desperate because of his relationship with JB and his extension, and even if he was, he is just not that kind of man IMHO. It simply would not have been fair to the young man. Having not seen him, I can only go by what Lang has said based on the practices he has seen, and apparently Kemrite's shot is as advertized, which should fill a need next year.

Thanks for the fact check BSK. Not by my standards but would be an improvement over the back to back 10th places finishes by JB & DL with a Fort Knox budget.
