It seems as though my bookbag has been stolen. That wouldn't be a big deal if it weren't for the fact that my laptop with all of my notes for the entire semester in all of my classes was on there. I've searched the entire SMGT and Education departments, talked to lost and found, and the custodians and no one has seen it. The one night I left it in my car I get it stolen from me. Great.

I really don't know why I put this in the chapel other than maybe pray that it gets resolved or I somehow find it or something.

It looks like I'll be spending the rest of my day in my apartment complex's office, LUPD's office, and the Lynchburg PD's office.

I sure hope you find it. Too much information and needs for the end of the term. Good luck.

Not only my schoolwork, but it had confidential appraisal stuff on there that we can go to jail for.

I went by LUPD and they were too busy. While I was at the Lynchburg PD office, I got a parking ticket. I parked in a legal zone, but there was no space on the right side of the road so I pulled in on the left. The ticket was for parking on the wrong side of the street. To make it even better, I got to the car as he was writing the ticket and he said that had I got there a minute earlier before he wrote the ticket he would've let me go.

I think I should just sit here all day and not move for fear of being mugged, having something stolen, or getting a ticket for looking at someone the wrong way

Sorry to hear that SJ...I would ask that we pray for the campus, since a PL on our hall had his Macbook stolen from his room. This is not the first time I have heard of this happening. BJ and I can tell you about a lot of stuff that got stolen from the first year of East Campus.

yeah, stuff gets stolen a lot, its sucks...but you have to make sure you lock your room when you leave or else really you are just opening yourself up for it....its pretty sad though that is for sure

I drive a Jeep Wrangler. It was stolen from my car. Locking the doors doesn't stop that.

Things have been stolen alot. At LaHaye they are averaging about $500 worth of items and cash are being stolen a month.

i wasn't saying that towards you SJ...I didn't know the whole situation, i was talking about in the dorms a lot when things get stolen its because people don't lock up their rooms, i remember living on campus when stuff got stolen, the RA's always asked if they locked their room, and the answer 100% of the time was no...and i admit there were times i didn't lock my door either..just not thinking or being lazy...but a lot of people have the mindset that it won't happen here since its a Christian campus....pretty dumb....

I know you weren't talking to me when you said that. I was just adding that part to it.

Though it may be annoying, dorm room doors really should not have an option to be unlocked. If you shut your door, it ought to just be locked by default. Sure, people would get locked out more often, but that's what RA's are around for.

You have prayers being sent up from at least one prof here on campus.

SJ I am sorry to hear about your bag being stolen, even in the early days of LBC we have had a problem with students stealing. It is a shame for you think at a Christian school others would respect someone else's property. My prayer is it will be returned to you shortly.

I'm sorry to hear that as well, SJ. I was at the Conference USA football championship last night and the guy from Jackson, MS who drove down to cover the game had his bag stolen as well. It had his car keys, wallet, cell phone and some gear in it. He was stranded nearly a thousand miles away from home with no way to get around much less home. I took him to the PD and then took him to his hotel (which thankfully was prepaid).

The moral of the story is this happens anywhere, anytime. And as much of a hassle as it is, its just material possessions. I know that sounds shallow and pointless right now. But I'm being srerious. Hopefully it will show up soon nonetheless. Crazier things have happened.

you should've gone with putting a gps tracking device on your laptop SJ...that could've saved you all this hassle...haha...ok, bad joke....what did the cops end up telling you anyways??

Unfortunately, that's not completely true. Since his laptop was stolen, that includes all of his digital "stuff", some of which could be much more than material.

For example, if someone were to steal my laptop (and if I didn't make backups of it like I do) they'd have, among other things, my entire music collection, all of our family photos, financial records and tax returns for the last four years.

This is why I'm: a) A security nut, and b) a backup stickler.

They just took the information and gave off this "Why are you reporting this?" look when I was talking to them.

You tell that to the federal government when one of our confidential appraisal files turns up in the wrong hands and me and my dad both go to jail. I'm sure they'll let us out for that.

I know that's exaggerating things, but it's the truth. We have confidential work on our computers. Luckily all of my pictures and music were on this computer, but my notes for class and work things were on that computer. Those are definitely just material. Who needs good grades anyways?
