haha, I'd love for someone to post LU's athletic income statement on here, just so you could see how much football makes in comparison to basketball. A lot of schools with football, use the money that comes in from football to fund the rest of their athletics. There are only a handful of colleges making a meaningful dollar in college basketball. College football is a completely different story.

And if we agree on Layer being responsible for the success of the program, than I'm not sure what your point is. Sure, what you are saying with the fans, and game day experience is true, but I'm only pointing out that it's a dumb excuse. In my opinion, I have high expectations for Liberty athletics, and Layer is solely responsible for the crap that is our basketball team.

You might want to rethink that entire paragraph

We had over 5,000 for our opener this year against Randolph. I'm not worried about the fans. If we win, they'll be there. They've proven that repeatedly even since we've become a football school. Remember Curry's year? Just win and everything else will take care of itself.

With that said, is it that difficult to have the concessions adequately staffed? Or even stocked? The lack of effort put forth by gameday ops, marketing, etc. for our basketball program is pathetic. I get it we're a football school, but come on. I took my wife and daughter to a game back in December, and my wife said she's not coming back due to there being so many inconveniences. If she's saying that, how many others have said the same thing?

Not really. Someone post the income statement!

College football is dominating budgets across college sports. Which is why when traditional basketball schools, experience any type of football success, they immediately start investing more into football. Keeping the Duke example, after Duke started winning some games with Cutcliffe, they made plans to expand their stadium seating. Which seems like a normal thing to do, until you realize that Duke hasn't renovated their stadium since the 40's. That includes when Steve Spurrier was there and won an ACC championship.

Basketball schools are showing signs of becoming two, or three sport schools (baseball). Football schools still don't give a rip about basketball. There's a reason behind that.

To address the above arguments about LU being a football or hoops school. It shouldn't matter. LU actually is probably like a BYU where they can be great in both.

Reasons:
1. Money
2. Facilities -- neither sport lacks in this area
3. FTN -- exposure
4. Large student body for 1AA school
5. National recruiting base for both sports.
6. Lynchburg has a good population and airport is key.

Now with that being said, the basketball staff needs to realize that fans won't get fired up for hoops until after playoffs or bowl game eventually. So hoops schedule in Nov & Dec needs to have caution.

Ohio State
Texas
Florida
BYU-- no final 4's but usually ranked.
Michigan

Why not LU??

(Hope I put this in proper thread)
