I always enjoy my Christmas' and the things I get and all of that and then every year I come on here and read about some of the things people get and am blown away. I am not saying it is a bad thing, I just can fathom giving or getting so much stuff for Christmas. I think I might be way older than I actually am, haha

When we decided to take the cruise we just labeled it 'Christmas' and I would rather spend money on the cruise then for something here.
As for Vegas, I didn't find out till about 2 weeks ago that our part of the Company was going. So since we'd gotten married out there and she had some Personal Days she had to use, plus a $200 Flight voucher made it doable. Being Super Bowl Sunday was an added bonus!

We usually just give gift certificates!

Oh, trust me. If I could afford a cruise to give as a gift I would get one as a Christmas gift any day of the week haha

The kids got me a messenger bag from J. Crew. My wife and I stopped getting each other gifts a few years ago because typically if we see something we want, if it's in the budget, we just get it.

Must be nice to be independently wealthy with a Muppet Collection!

Tom Clancy's latest (and last?) book
Gift certs to Wal-Mart, JC Penny, Taco Bell and Olive Garden
Scarves
Gloves
Dress socks
Neck tie
Rocky I-IV on DVD
A book on fatherhood by famous coaches past and present
A Redskins ornament

Mother and Father framed a special gift to our forthcoming baby girl

And my personal favorite: the entire West Wing series on DVD, special box set. (It's only the GREATEST show in the history of series television!)

Nope. That's not right. That show would actually be Friday Night Lights. And I got the DVD set for Christmas.

Clear eyes. Full hearts. Can't lose.

This would be correct, SJ wins the Internets today. Go Panthers!! Or Lions depending on which season

A special nod to Battlestar Galactica as well. So say we all.

Doctor Who.

and I will ramp this up by stating that anyone that argues this should be summarily executed

Dr Who has been around for so long, but when in the world did it become the 'cool' thing to watch?? I don't understand this. People act like its this new a great thing and just sound dumb when talking about it. Not you medic, just people I have come across at work.

The Honors students at Liberty are pretty obsesssed with Doctor Who: coffee/tea mugs, T-shirts, DVD collections, etc.

You'd have an argument of 1. The Wire was SOO over rated

As for Dr Who I remember watching Tom a Baker episodes on PBS back in the day! He was the best Doctor with David Tennant finishing a close second. I'm a little put off that it's becoming 'cool' to watch. Sorta takes the mystique away.

Not sure I can ever have a serious conversation with you again.

Actually, I'm not sure I've ever had a serious conversation with you anyway. ;)

You left wing print media types are all alike! :D I just never got The Wire. Maybe because it wasn't as good as OZ

I liked FNL until all the originals graduated. What is that, first three seasons?

Freaks & Geeks was GREAT. Sadly under appreciated in its time.

Never watched The Wire. Or Dr. Who.

Freaks and Geeks, another show cut short well before its time. What a great cast. Great starting point for Apatow and crew.

I thought I'd feel that way about FNL but the East Dillon Lion story line was great, especially since you coach. And I liked the Vince Howard character You still had a lot of the regulars. Gotta love Riggins and you can never get enough minka Kelly. Ever.
As for The Wire get jacked up on some black tar heroin and watch it when you're coming down, I hear it makes it more interesting. As for Dr Who, I'm not sure you are geeky enough so you're fine

Friday Night Lights was awesome for the three seasons it was on.

The Eric Taylor Show was great for the two seasons it was on.

They were different shows with overlapping characters.

Breaking Bad, Mad Men and The Sopranos complete the Mount Rushmore of TV dramas.

I've watched every episode of all three. All three are below The Wire to me. I loved the Sopranos, but they wasted episodes (or half seasons, if you're talking about season 6A). Breaking Bad is No. 2 on my list.

Freaks and geeks was fantastic. I remember being shocked it was being cancelled because everybody I knew loved it too. Time to bring out the DVD set and watch again.

Agree on the Sopranos. The one series I have a boxed set of DVDs for.

Personally followed Dr Who since the Tom Baker era. And I've been cool since the 70's so the rest of you are band-wagon fans. Of me.

Esp SJ who longs for the day he morphs into a slightly heavier version of me.

Regarding Dr Who and being cool to watch, just take a gander at the people who watch it. It's not really 'cool', just popular among nerds.
