Well CJ lives in Alaska with his mom and 2 siblings. His little brother Mack was with us all weekend too. Toomer now lives in Durham and he is really liking the idea of getting CJ in The Burg. However CJ is being recruited by U of Washington and Washington State. He is going to each of their camps in the next week and a half.

I spent time with the coaching staff this weekend too and I have to say they are pretty good guys. Joe Daily the QB coach was very welcoming and let us hang out in his office. TG is the man and was available to talk to anyone that needed him.

Looking for info on him it was obvious that he is probably the top prospect in Alaska right now. But obviously that is not the same as Texas or Florida. He looks like he could play just about skill position and his HS coaches apparently seem to agree.

I love Anchorage and will be back up there in August for the second time this year. Wish it was late enough in the month that I could have checked out Chris' kid in action.

In looking at this kid perform, I do not see him as a QB at all, he will definately be moved over to one of the skill spots, when he moved to WR in the 7/7 he did very well, looks like he can definately play any of the skill spots.

The old timers like SCAR and SLY know who Chris is, but for the younger Flame Fans, Chris Toomer was the shooting guard on the LU basketball team back in the early 1990s. I think he once dropped six 3 pointers in one game!

That was his first game as a Freshman, and he never came close to matching it. Chris was better known as one of the best on ball defenders ever to wear an LU uni. His most famous moment however did involve another 3 pointer, the one he dropped against UNC in the NCAA tourney in 94 to give us the lead with 10 minutes to play. I don´t like to talk about what happened after that.

Yeah Toomer and me are like brothers so when he called me about CJ I was happy to pick up the phone to help and then drive to Lynchburg to ensure things went as planned. I see CJ as a skilled player too. He can play QB though but he is so good as a receiver or even a Defensive back. Coach Roberts talked to him about possibly moving to LB or SS. He likes to hit. From what I understand he has sent a few kids out of the games in AK. He collided with a kid on Saturday too and the kid stayed down for a long time. CJ popped right up. Tough kid.

CJ got injured slightly in the U of Washington camp but kept playing through it. Later in the camp he collided with another kid and that kid is in the hospital overnight! CJ had to go too as a precaution but was released. He hits (pun intended) Washington State camp next week. I believe Liberty wants him and I think he would come but he is opening PAC 12 eyes right now.

I don't know if he would even think about getting on this board. Toomer is not the messageboard, Facebook/Twitter type. But I will invite him to come on. I still have some influence after all these years I think.

C.J. Toomer set the state record for passing yards in a season, and can add to it this weekend.

CJ Toomer has become the record holder for passing yards in a season in Alaska history.

The Service (Anchorage, Alaska) senior set the mark in a 47-27 semifinal victory last week over Dimond (Anchorage), according to the Anchorage Daily News.

Toomer finished the game with 2,624 yards, surpassing the record of 2,559 set by Anchorage West's Conor Feckley in 2011. He recorded 227 passing yards in the playoff win and also added three touchdowns - in addition to two running scores.

Looking at his size, he looks like he would be a good fit as either a #2 at the slot behind Gabe or another horse in what would be a very loaded stable at tailback.

CJ is being recruited by the Pac 10. If he ends up at Libery he would be expecting to compete for a starting position. Eastern Washington is pretty high on him too. I can't wait to see if he gets to play QB or gets moved to somewhere else.

I will say that getting him here at QB may be just the push people have wanted for Woodrum the last year or so. Just speculating his best fit where heis size and ability could best be utilized

No disrespect, but anyone coming here should be expecting to compete for a starting position. Just because he is being recruited by the PAC doesn't mean he should come here (if he does) and be given a starting spot. With what you said, i'm sure that at the RB position CR came here and said the same thing but end the end couldn't beat out DR for the #1 spot. Where ever he ends up he should be thankful for the opportunity. What kids need to learn is they should probably fall in love with who falls in love with them, otherwise they could end up somewhere they think they want to be and end up hating it.

Liberty is in the mix for sure. Dad is looking at a lot of West Coast teams as well. I believe he is going to come to camp again this summer in Lynchburg which should sort some things out in terms of recruiting.

Actually he may already be signed by then since he is a senior. Lets hope he becomes a flame. His little brother Mac should be here for summer camp though. Mac has a chance to be even better.

Keep in mind that this kid lives with his mom in Alaska and dad is thousands of miles away in NC. I don't know how long that has been the case, but it certainly can make a big difference as to how much influence his father may have in the decision.
