This.
I can assure you in my lifetime of living in NC that those ECU and App fans have their ACC teams in state that they pull for much more, not all, but a massive majority.

This was not my experience with App fans when I grew up and lived in the Triad. I didn't know any ECU fans, so I can't speak to their allegiances.

It was always mine with both sects, the typical 'ECU/UNC or Duke' fan, 'App/UNC, State, or Duke fan.' My wife got her undergrad from ECU and my brother in law went to App, he is a hybrid 'App/UNC' fan and always used to tell me about how no one goes to anything but football games, if they are winning of course. The only reason I mentioned it is that this isn't something that is exclusive to Liberty, it's how it is at 'smaller' schools than the big time programs. Some of that will change in time but it just is what it is. I remember a running joke with some of my ECU buddies back in the days was, "well you like ECU, but who do you really pull for?"

Any news on it being either us, JMU, or someone else moving up to FBS soon? Who are all the most likely teams to be in the running?

Will the Big South be announcing their all sports replacement of VMI soon and who is in the running? So far the Big South north division has a huge hole with VMI leaving in July.

The divisions will be eliminated next year. Teams will play an 18-game conference schedule, home-and-home with eight opponents, one only at home and one only away.

No other news. That sort of stuff tends to happen closer to the spring when conferences hold AD and presidents meetings.

If the Big South does add anyone, it'll likely be from the A-Sun. We seem to have a habit of raiding them. Other option may be Hampton, but they may be content to be in the MEAC for eternity while praying for an invite to the CAA.

Why did they get rid of the divisions? VMI leaving?

Because KK is not good at advanced math.

Yes. The only reason they did divisions with 12 teams was to aid in scheduling. Unbalanced divisions make no sense. I'm sure they'd go back to it if they added a 12th all-sports member, but I don't think that's imminent. Not sure there's anyone out there that is clamoring to join the Big South, unless another DII moves up.

Sorry Purple Haize I didn't know there was a University of Virginia at Lynchburg. Probably a Division 3 school.

It's all good brother. But moving to division 3 would be a step up for their athletics!

Auburn fan? Figures.

Shouldn't your location signature read "North Cackalacky"? I hope you weren't an English major... I jest. :D

Have you tried Cackalacky sauce? I really like it, but my wife won't cook with it, so my bottle is still half full.
