I know how I feel about Coach Rocco and the UR staff because I worked for them and respect them like crazy, but what's the general consensus of the fanbase? Where do most of you fall?

HAving met Coach Rocco, I am glad for all he did here, and yeah I should be mad about him leaving, but he did all he could here, and while I want to see LU win this one, Im not going to be bitter about seeing him at Richmond and being successful there.

I don't have hard feelings towards him like I towards a certain UVA assistant coach because he never claimed he was Liberty for life. With that said, I think UR is a lateral move and I don't understand sticking things out here. I know other disagree and say UR is not a lateral move and have more success then we ever have had but I think our future is brighter and he could've really made a name for himself here if he could've gotten us over the hump. He did a lot of things during that last year that really put a sour taste in my mouth.

I hope we destroy him and his team

If anyone says moving to UR WASN'T a lateral move they would fail a drug test.

The question is more what do you feel towards Rocco than if you want to beat him. Of course we all want to win. He's wearing a different team's logo. I have no problem saying that while I respect him and I'm thankful for what he did, I want to win by 40. I wouldn't be a fan if I didn't. We just haven't had the conversation on here about how the fan base in general feels towards him. We all hate McKay because we felt he betrayed us and left when things got hard. Most people don't feel Rocco betrayed us. It's an interesting conversation.

At least they get to enjoy the tranquility and hospitality afforded by our mild mannered student section. I'm sure they'll make everybody feel at home on the visitors sideline.

I snicker audibly. Sorry I'm not a "chortler."

I respect him as well SJ. Do I want to beat him? Of course...like you, I want us to stomp them into spider paste. That said, I do still hold Coach Rocco himself in very high regard for what he did to turn us from a laughingstock to a major player at the FCS level. If he ever gets inducted into the Athletics HoF (which he wont be eligible for until at least 2016), I will applaud him for that because of the turnaround he brought about here.

We don't all feel that way towards McKay and a leopard doesn't change its spots. Sideline apparel maybe.

I don't dislike Danny at all. I appreciate everything he came in here and did. I don't know if he really endeared himself at the end when he made the recruiting quip about a better academic institution. He couldn't keep guys with low grades in an average college from making stupid mistakes. I think Gill is a better fit for our culture. I also wasn't the biggest fan of Rocco's lack of recruiting, which was the complete opposite of the current staff. All in all he did a great job and I look forward to a big Flames win this weekend.

He turned this program around and set it up for someone to knock it out of the park. However, his teams and offensive style here were starting to get stale and just couldn't get over the hump. Also the whole selling out for Asa and getting 0 return thing pretty much had me packing his bags for him.

It would have been difficult to bring someone in who couldn't have turned the program around. He made as many play off appearances as the last 3 staff's combined.

Hats off for what he did here but I truly don't think he was the guy to take us to playoffs, possibly win a national title or transition to FBS. Gill is that guy I believe, our program is headed in a great direction under him!

I respect the foundation he help lay here at Liberty. I just wish he wouldn't of gone to UR. Had he moved up to FBS then it would've been a completely differently feeling. I want to destroy his team and then I can pretend it makes him regret leaving Liberty, haha

I always thought Rocco looked like a thug, and his teams were undisciplined. He helped our program, but it was good for him to go. I hope LU torches the spiders... But not for any personal animosity towards Rocco.

I have never liked Richmond or any CAA school. I like Spiders even less since Rocco left LU for a lateral move to another FCS school. Now granted CAA is rated ahead of Big South, but FCS is still FCS.

I would love to see LU lay a good beating on Richmond, totally dominating Spiders.
