We conclude our look at the 2013 Flames with a look at the boys up front.

Here is how the team looked coming out of spring practice:

Players Incoming:

Spencer Cook 6-1 260 Lbs Houston, TX (Sharpstown HS)

(Sly do you have any insight on this kid being from Houston?)

Ja'Ron Greene 6-2 295 Lbs Beaumont, TX (West Brook HS- teammate of defensive back Justin Guillory)
Leo Hunt, Jr. 6-0 285 Lbs Jacksonville, FL (Eagle's View Academy)
Jesse Karnezis 6-2 260 Lbs Candler, NC (Asheville HS)
Marc Wilson 6-3 245 Lbs Houston TX (Lamar HS- HS teammate of current DL Chima Uzowihe)

Of the four incoming players, the one most likely IMO to see the field will probably be Greene, who will probably be battling for one of the spots at defensive tackle. Hunt also could see an opportunity to get into the rotation at that spot but the more likely scenario sees him and Wilson battling for the backup DT spots with Gerald Holt and walkon Roger Bryan while Karnezis and Cook redshirt with Bah, Freeman and Fewell locking down three of the four spots on the defensive line, and Dominique Davis the clubhouse leader at the other end position after showing significant improvement in the spring (earning the Samkon Gado Award for the defense). Freeman and Bah are both likely NFL prospects while Uzowihe, Spicer and Bowman do have game experience and have a chance to possibly set themselves up for an all-conference look in 2014 or 2015.

Even with three kids from my area on that list coming in, I know nothing more than the rest of you guys. Beaumont is about 1:45 away from my house .... Lamar is about 45 minutes away (it is where the movie Rushmore was set) ... Sharpstown is about 1:15 away from my place around the corner from the NBC station where I used to work. I follow the kids in the 40 or so teams in my corner of Houston to a certain degree.

But I would be very surprised to any of the incoming freshmen actually see the field this fall barring significant injuries. Chima hit the field last year as a true freshman but I hope we don't need to pull off any redshirts this fall.
Are we back?

Nice! Here is to hoping we can live bot free.
