I have no reason to believe that VAgolf did it intentionally. No pun intended.

Cum hoc ergo propter hoc (correlation proves causation) fallacy is fairly informal so it would not surprise me if that was the case jbock

I am all for payback, but not a hit to the head. That should clearly be something that is disciplined more harshly even if it wasn't intentional.

But a shot to the back...fair game. hockey fights, bench clearing brawls, etc are all very entertaining just don't cross the line and try to seriously hurt someone. I see why someone would disagree with my viewpoint, but its honestly how I feel.

Once again, I don't see how it can be shown he intentionally threw at Puig. A ball ends up around the head does not equal intent to hit.

I do agree with your second paragraph though.

Well, chances are it was agreed to months ago. But yeah, the timing isn't coincidental.

This is all the information I need to have cause to change.
Uhhhh... I think you totally just manufactured that quote. What I said,
Kennedy meant to throw it at him, but he didn't intentionally hit Puig in the head.
Second, let's say you swerve into the median with your car and kill someone. Is that murder? No. You didn't intend to, so we call it manslaughter. You can't just pick a causation and imply correlation. Very few times have I ever seen a pitcher intentionally go after anyone's head.

What if I was only trying to hit up against the side of the car and I hit them head on? Kennedy meant to hit Puig. It wasn't just a pitch that got away from him. Maybe he wasn't aiming for his head, can't really prove that one way or another. My point is, if he weren't aiming to hit him at all, he wouldn't have hit him in the head. Penalize players who intentionally hit others, suspend them without pay and/or fine them.

Really? You've never seen a two seam fastball slip out of someone's hand?

Although do note I'm not denying Kennedy intentionally hit him, I think it's likely he did.

Obviously I've seen a two seamer slip out of a pitcher's hand. But the odds that a 2-seamer slip out and hit someone's head are much lower if the pitcher isn't already trying to hit them.

Jbock's right, but like I said earlier, its an easy fix if a pitch gets away from somebody. now you generally don't see rosin bags used in youth baseball but that is available. Anyway, Im sure there will be suspensions handed out for the brawl and probably to Kennedy and maybe Greinke for their actions.

Once again I agree wth jbock. 10 games sounds pretty fair for Kennedy. Regardless of circumstances, this wasnt a place for Major League Baseball to get a "pound of flesh" (e.g. 30 game suspension). They have a three game set July 8-10 which Im sure will be watched by MLB. If he goes out after his suspension and does it again, yeah...hit him hard, but in this case, I think they made the right call as far as punishment

No! He hit someone with a baseball! He should be brought up on criminal charges and have to register in a national data base! It's evil and its wrong and why America is on the road to HELL. He and all of his off spring should be permanently banned from all of baseball. Even attending a game should be prohibited!

He hits people more than anyone else and intentionally tried to hit someone in the head. It's stupid to consider that a 10 game (2 start) suspension for someone with his history.

Mark Mulder is on ESPN2 just ripping the suspensions to shreds. He points out that the film shows Puig throwing and landing a punch yet he gets no suspension. Eric Hinske runs around playing peacemaker and gets 5 games. Greinke threw 4 pitches at Montero before finally hitting him in the back and only gets a fine.

Selig and company are clueless.

I agree that often the suspensions are too harsh for those who didn't do anything wrong. But then again, I don't like to complain about everything.
