A Little thing called the ¨Bear Bryant rule¨ was initiated by the NCAA when Bryant had like 150 players on various kinds of scholarships, most of them booster funded. Now no matter what kind of scholarship you actually have, if you play football it counts against the NCAA limit, which for FCS is 63.

This is an NCAA violation, you can't argue it. There's not really a gray area.
