After reading this and hearing the stuff from people going through the wedding planning process at work all I can say is thank God marriage is no where on the horizon for me.

its really not all that bad if you are the dude. you just kinda show up. golf in the morning is what you strive for although it may not happen. the old adage, show your ineptness early on and you won't have to do much else really rings true.

why people spend 1,000's on a single day is beyond me...thankfully I married someone who agreed....of course her parents are missionaries and have zero money, but our wedding was simple and actually enjoyable. We both wouldn't of had it any other way and both roll our eyes at some of the other weddings we have attended.

Alina and I did pretty well with keeping our costs down on a lot of things, and we got quite a few blessings along the way that helped as well (got bigtime deals on both venues, all the dresses and tuxes, and food for the reception among other things) but I do understand why you feel the way you guys did postie.

We are trying to get all of our major wedding planning done before the football season. thankfully my fiance's mother is on staff at the church we are using so financially we won't be set back very much at all. I've learned very quickly that I just need to say yes dear and only insert my opinion when asked. so far so good.

What's scary about Vegas? Southwest has $99 fares out of RDU, you go during the week (sun-thurs) room rates are less expensive, especially in the summer. A package at The Little Chirch of the West is $199+$60 preacher fee. And you can actually do it for less if you go a la carte. You can have a rehearsal dinner and or reception at a nice place or buffet. We did the Palm for 'rehearsal', my Uncles picked up that tab, and the Voodoo Lounge for the 'reception'. Since it was at the Rio we caught Danny Gans and them had passes back to the club for dancing etc. we even got or own blackjack table.
See nothing to be afraid of and you will have better stories then all your friends for a fraction of the price.
