People survive in third world counties that doesn't mean it's a good system. We need social programs. If you want to talk about who should run/fund them, that is up for debate.

Jail time for Lois Lerner? Apparently, she thought she could testify and then not testify. She's been called back under subpoena and precedence says she has already waived her 5th Amendment rights and MUST testify and answer questions under pain of contempt charges. She's has a very arrogant look to her like the guy who testified last week.

I do agree with you though, but the problem has been these programs have been in place for so long that other non-profit organization have either stopped being good at what they do or haven't felt the need to help the way they have in the past because of these programs.

Yes, I am talking about us Christians...myself included.

I know government programs aren't the way to go, but its easy for me to say that and then I do nothing at all too help the less fortunate so I don't feel like I can boldly be critical of those programs...just some of the people who use them.

I feel like I just talked in circles, but hopefully it at least made some sense...

But we should remember that is the reason why many of us no longer give, even to Christian charity, we've just decided it's something that the government should be in charge of. We've all seen the disasterous results of that but yet we don't want to change it. Because we all don't want to pay double for helping people. Just like most don't want to pay twice for their child's education. This is how the government gets the camel under the tent.

We all know we need a government. But it does things that our founders could have never imagined.

I work in a completely different program handling the medical side of things. Yes, he lives in Upstate New York...for now. We are trying to get closer to each other.
