They have a practice facility already.

All I can say after looking at all the construction projects in the new journal is WOW.
The campus is gonna be absolutely beautiful when its done, especially LaHaye and the new prayer chapel (very gothic feel, looks like something Duke would build, I really like the design). One thing I saw mentioned was the football stadium expansion to 25,000 but no date, is this just being mentioned with the other projects or is this going to be started in the near future, anyone know? I've often heard about waiting until we get to an FBS conference but with the aggressive expansion on campus wonder if this going to be done as well no matter what?

women's bball should play in a smaller venue, it makes sense to me. If there is a game or tournament that is viewed as something that would draw more they can always move it over to the Vines. Just my 2 cents...

The issue with that is Title IX. I think UNC has the best set up, but they had to fight the NCAA to get it. But both their BB programs are a bit more storied then ours :D

my first thought as well.

betting JK whateverhisfaceis would know for sure but I don't think you can put WBB in a smaller venue then MBB even if it makes sense.

(notwithstanding the fact that the men should be in a smaller venue as well)

"Equal Opportunity" I believe is how it's viewed.

I could be dead wrong.

I looked over the new campus map twice and still couldn't find this gym. Where will it be located?
Its located in the auxiliary section in the airport section. I didn't see it right away either.

So our women get to play in a smaller venue than most of the Big South? 1500 is too small, but if you put it far enough away students won't go. Must simply be a practice facility; they don't have their own facility yet, do they?

I am aware of that, but a shared facility is shared. I watched some women's game when there were more than 3000 at a game. Has it gotten so bad that 1500 is the expected high number for attendance? Bet that sweet mini-arena will help with women's recruiting.

Just about everyone shares a facility. Nothing bizarre about that. Plus with Title IX they sorta have to. The basketball practice facility gives each team 1 1/2 courts so the dont share court time, just facility time.

...my point being that 1500 is too small. Green should have more to work with.

Which is why they will be playing in the same spot the Men will be playing. Unless Liberty Council is gearing up for a Title IX fight

When I pull it up on my Apple Device, we are apparently expanding the football stadium to cover 460 :)

I still don't see it. Letter E is about the new hangar at the airport and the new athletic practice facility but I don't see anything about a 1500 seat volleyball, women's basketball arena. If it's there, I need to know tonight so we can get it changed before the print version goes to the presses. Thanks

It's there I saw it too. You really have to read the small print in the pop up box

The pop-up on the website for letter "E" says "Airport Facilities" but then describes it as "This new multipurpose athletic complex will be built near U.S. 460 at the north end of East Campus and will include a 1,500-seat arena for men’s and women’s volleyball and women’s basketball, an Olympic-sized 50-meter pool and diving well, and a new indoor track. The wrestling and gymnastics teams will also use the facility."

The text in the magazine itself seems to be correct.

Just checked and saw it... Also mentions swimming, diving, new indoor track and gymnastics. There are some of these items listed under "C" which is about as far from the airport as possible.

Great- I'll sign off on the plans!
In regards to the possibility of CVCC buying land along 460, how might that affect facilities located closer to the Odd Fellows Rd. extension?

The CVCC property would be on the other side of the Oddfellows Road interchange if that deal ever materialized.
