Just finished watching 30 for 30 again on the "U" (Miami), and it made me think what if the Liberty players had that kind of mindset or swag or bravado. How would it be perceived? Would the "us" against the world mentality hold any weight. Those teams that played put in work bottom line, for a college team, to just have an attitude that when we(they) step on the field they are going to beat you physically and mentally and there were two things that you could do about it. I could c a few with that but, I could also c some with the passive aggressive nature too.

1) Nothing
and
2) Like it

Now as for my original post, what I am saying is that it would be nice to see some "attitude" instead of always seeming like we have to play the nice guys. People already say we playin with a bunch of nice guys to begin with. Lets show them that nice guys don't always finish last. Or because we are Liberty that we are at a disadvantage, play with some spirit and fire, every team needs that nasty individual that can get down and dirty with the best of them.

Did they pack the stands gm after gm, had more clout in the city than the Dolphins did. Not saying you have to pay them but lets be real about it to, they have not had to forfeit a title either. All im saying is stop being mr nice guy sometimes and ball to the wall. Maybe if the saying is true that a team takes on the persona of there coach and the staff has picked the right guys that wont be a problem ill have to ask i the future.

I wanna see a safety send a messsge to a WR across the middle that its a no fly zone and a penalty or toll to be paid to go thru there. Sometimes a penalty is worth it to send the other team a message for the rest of the game. You have that with sigmo in the middle he just seems nasty n thats good just need a few more for the attitude and desire to spread.

Seriously, the last program any school should try to emulate is The U in its heyday. There were numerous violations which led to a postseason ban in 1995 and scholarship cuts. I also know for a fact that they were paying players. My old assistant had a son who received $20,000 cash from Butch Davis for signing with Miami. He played there for 2 years before becoming a first round draft pick. My assistant also received a brand new SUV to drive while he was in school at Miami. The only reason her other son didn't sign with them a few years ago was because Randy Shannon wouldn't give him any money. I'm not saying Miami is the only school that was dirty by any means, but I don't think they should be the model. Sure, there was some swagger, but a lot of it was because they had money thrown at them which made them feel invincible.

OMG, some of you are missing the point, of what i was saying, trust me i know way more than u think about Miami, as i know quite a few of those players. What i was referring to was their on field play. Regardless of whether or not some got paid did not stop them from playing as one big bad machine. The play on the field spread throughout the whole team which carried them, it was an ATTITUDE thats what im saying. If LU played with that same type of ATTIUDE how would it be perceived.

Noone is asking LU to commit any infractions, just an ATTIUDE that to me you have to have when you walk between those white lines

Those teams played dirty. I don't want LU playing dirty. Hard, aggressive, tough, yes. But not dirty.

what makes you the authority on what was dirty, vs. hard, aggressive, and tough. If the other team can't match the other teams intensity, then it can be construed as dirty if your on the losing end or hard, aggressive, and tough on the other.

I guess if cheap shots, kicks and punches to the groin among other places, are what you call aggressive tough football then I can't convince you otherwise. I saw way too much of that watching the Hurricanes for years to ever want to have my favorite team try to emulate them. So my authority is the same as yours, its called an opinion.

No my authority is just a tad bit different, so sorry not the same, I guess some may never fully understand but I guess thats why we're still fighting for respect on the field as well as off of it. When your not respected I guess you get what you get. This game is close to being won by INTIMIDATION and FEAR. Most games are decided by the first quarter. I can't stand SOFTIES on the field then or now. I hope thats not how these next 4 yrs will be.

Yes and the talent and coaching coming to LU is hopefully just starting to happen, because before then, its only gotten them ????? exactly NOT A THING. NO RESPECT NO NOTHING from anyone on the outside looking in. What has the "talent" that has come thru here so far done to improve the face of the program. Look no further than trying to get into the worse FBS conf. there is, and that is a struggle. NOTHING to hang your hats on. Still in the background talking about every reason other than being the BEST, PERIOD. Accept no substitute for being a winner, as long as you don't have to lie steal or cheat. Like I said hopefully they take the approach of the new coach and some things change around here, like get to the play-offs instead of talking about what if, or woulda, coulda, shoulda. In the end I know WE(fans) all want the same thing and that is WINS, and some POST SEASON opportunites that lead to an eventual CHAMPIONSHIP

I'm sorry. Are you lumping me in with the 'Shoulda Coulda Woulda' crowd? Son, are you new in these here parts.
Your comment was that Fear and Intimidation win games. I said I'll take Talent and Coaching to win games. You don't have to play like The U from the 80's to be winners. In fact, it will make your program losers in the long run.
