The great thing about going ahead with phase 2 (and 3 I think) is that we had have the stadium ready for the future. The future where we will either be in FBS or in a better FCS conference, a future where our alumni base has grown incredibly, and a future with more residential students.

Maybe a new/different marketing campaign needs to go into effect to bring more people out, something needs to change in order for the seats to b filled, and no one is gonna convince me like I said that playing Troy of the sunbelt is then gonna mean, stadium overflow.

Whatever you do your gonna need to sustain it for the long term not just be a one year hey were finally FBS phenomenon. The fans are gonna need to be made to feel they have to come back to next home game, not just want to come back.

There is a minimum attendance requirement as the process to be eligible to move up to FBS. That is unless you are a start up (Charlotte ) or grandfathered in (Duke). We have met those requirements

There was also a supposed minimum attendance requirement to stay at the FBS level. Those requirements were dropped years ago.

Yeah, the culture is really changing at Duke, they are reaching out to their huge employee base and the community like never before and it's really paying off. The best part of all, the team is finally worth watching!

Brilliant! Why hadn't anyone thought of that?

Instead of brain farts like this one, why not consider the attendance growth over just the last ten years. The marketing/promotions are working.

Someone else said it best regarding Duke: it helps most when the team is at least watchable, let alone winning.

Maybe if we wrapped Athletic Marketing into University Marketing it would quadruple attendance? I mean why doesn't our athletic marketing person see the big picture? if only we had someone from WVU at the helm....

Burning couches is not the image we're going for for our athletics program

Why not burn all the couches!?!? Who cares about the image do it in private!! We need less sitting around and more "Pro-activeness", Im sick of being FCS. Id volunteer my time day and night, if I knew it would help us get into an FBS conference!

Marshall would burn every couch in Huntington if that's what it took for a victory over a #3-ranked team. (WVU's win over VT in 2003, when they were ranked #3, and subsequent couch-burning celebrations city-wide are what brought this long tradition to national attention.)

Marshall would just be happy to beat a team ranked 300th let alone 3rd!

Do couches just wander around WV like stray cats everywhere else? Is that why there's a surplus that can be burned without fear of unfurnished living rooms?

Jerry, when people of wealth in Huntington, Charleston, and Parkersburg replace their couches, they donate their old ones to the WVU students in the third-world part of the state known as Morgantown.

My brother was a Sophomore at WVU in 2003. His fraternity burned their brand new foosball table that night. They were buring anything they could get there hands on.

Wealth is a relative term. Have you seen that commercial where the kids throw away a sofa and another group of kids pick it up? Those would be the Marshall kids. Then when they are done with it the WVU kids realize it makes good kindling!
