If you want to talk ASUN smack or ramble ad nauseum about your favorite pro or major college teams, this is the place to let it rip.

Without jumping to conclusions, I told a few people at LU about the rumors Tuesday at the baseball game and they were perplexed, to say the least. They hadn't heard anything regarding that at all and these individuals would have hinted toward whether it was right if it were true.

The reason I said that those rumors were "wrong" is because of something I was told that was insinuated to remain private because, as most on here have eloquently put in the past 100 or pages of this threat, things are constantly changing and what I was told has the possibility of changing (without being told it could change).

Don't read much into it (how often has that been said recently) and I'll keep digging on my end. And it's been an eventful first year here for me (well, almost a full year) with football beating Stony Brook, the men's basketball team going on that run in the Big South tourney and this relocation talk. It's been quite a ride.

Some questions about being FBS independent. Just questions. Not advocating it.

Finding 6 away games would not be a problem. Mac, cusa, sun belt, etc. throw In a Acc or two and our road games would be set.

We would need 5 FBS home games a year. This is a problem. How could we lure them to Williams? Two for one? Three for one? Could we pay say Buffalo to come to Williams? ODU?
Would our network help lure anyone?

Think about that. By going 3-1 we just make it harder in following years to get home games. Lets say we play 5 Twofers That gives us our 5 road games the following year. If we make them 3fers there are 5 road games the following year.so if we try to schedule 2fers the next year we can't because are dates are taken.
Only in Obamacare do numbers like that work :D

Why does the independent thing keep coming up in this thread. It is impossible, so why even think about it?

This is a good reason why the quality of Liberty's education gets questioned.

With that said, the ACC loved what they saw

As an immediate move, yes. It's against NCAA bylaws for a team to move up to FBS without a conference invite thus making it impossible to move up as an FBS independent.

One of the discussions was to force the NCAA to repeal that ban. This policy is the definition of collusion and monopoly. An anti-trust case brought before a judge could be plenty to force them to open up the option of at least an independent route. Would going independent be difficult? Yes. Messy, yes. A last resort? Sure.

Impossible? No.

I suppose if we were to roll over and quit it would be "impossible" but it's not very difficult to connect dots and get to an independent option.

I'm amused by people who attack the intelligence of others while simultaneously being so brilliant that they forfeit future options to status quo bylaws. Bylaws can be changed, especially and most certainly if they are found to be illegal.

You really want to brazenly challenge the governing body that could easily have a few of their agents just squat on our university and give the maximum penalty for every single minor infraction that ever occurs? A class action challenge, that gets some of the big boys currently in FBS to add their names to the mix, could work but going solo would be a suicide mission.

And who would sign on? Who runs a cleaner ship then we do and I'm positive we have committed some infractions whether we know it or not. Imagine a larger school

If you find a post where I advocated this as our present course of action, post it. Otherwise read my posts and respond accordingly if you're going to address me. Don't talk junk without reading. It's annoying and it shows your rear.

Going back you will see me give plenty of qualifications to my post. I said that I have no idea if we are being blackballed or not. I went on to say "If we were..." then this would be a course I could see working. If the worst conference in the top tier is proven to be blocking your ability for revenue and exposure and if a rule only exists in one sport and if the disqualifying (and subjective) reason has to do with free speech, political affiliations or religious freedom (see all of these if's?)... THEN a suit may be valid and worthwhile.

Obviously it's a dumb idea to try to ram down a door if there is any reasonable expectation that you still have a shot to get in by playing nice. If however you have a budget over twice ULM and could realistically get your budget to 30+ million... it stands to reason that other reasons are at play here and it's worthwhile to reserve the right to press forward.

There's not much more that annoys me than ignorance disguised as intelligence. Read what's posted and understand it or else don't say a word about it. You can disagree, I would just love to disagree with people who fully understand what I said. :banghead :D

I'm addressing the point that you even think its an option at any level. To even threaten it, to even have it as a stated option is utterly ridiculous. So again....here's your sign....

How's this?: "With so much thought put into your response, how can one even think to disagree? You my friend are a giant among ants."

Or this?:
"Thank you for that detailed analysis. You've completely proven your point and left no room for another consideration."

Or possibly this?:
Please allow the rest of us to bow out gracefully as you have been so compelling in stating your case that one would be a fool to consider alternatives.

Or how about this:
Get over yourself. Your routine is old. Show some diversity in your shtick.
