This just makes me sick to my stomach. I've walked through that part of Boston countless times, and even applied to one of the stores right where the explosions occurred. My thoughts and prayers are with those affected by this tragedy. Just a terrible terrible act of evil.

Just heard that. Sounds like conflicting stories. I think the intelligence source cited is more in the know then the Verizon spokesperson. Plus it adds confusion as to whether we are capable of doing that or not

They shut it down for a small period of time right after the explosions occurred. I tried calling my parents as soon as I heard about it and I wasn't able to complete a call to MA for close to 20 mins (and neither could they).

While at the press conference he didn't talk about the controlled explosion many of the local news outlets were notified by the police to relay the message. I know that may sound strange but that's how it went down. And yeah they've found a couple more explosives around the city.

Average finish time for the Marathon is 4:18. Bomb blasts occurred at 4:09. Along with the several other bombs that were deactivated and that the bombs allegedly contained shrapnel, whoever did it clearly had been planning this out. I doubt it's just some random act of violence. CNN also reporting that the FBI is treating it as an act of terrorism.

CNN is reporting that ER doctors have been pulling ball bearings out of victims.

A poster on another message board I frequent said that his sister is an ER doc and has been pulling nails out, not ball bearings or buckshot as has been reported.

All of those are standard issue for explosive devices. And the suspicious vehicle is also SOP. Terrorists like to eliminate first responders to increase body count. Because if there are no first responders more people will die

This hits home for me. I've been fortunate enough to cross that finish line 3 times. My family stood at basically that exact spot to watch me twice. The spectators who were injured were most likely family members of people running the race. Horrible tragedy.

I'll be wearing my Boston Marathon jacket tomorrow for sure.

I knew you would know. Using a garage door opener to detonate doesn't strike me as an efficient way. I remember we had one and used to go down streets pushing the button and seeing if any other doors would open, and they always opened one or two.
